    @ChiyomiAnzai
    I like to think of it as this in the RP: Rainier Aerospace uses flight simulations & software to virtually "test fly" their designs before-hand and perfect their flight dynamics, that way the real-world aircraft has good flight dynamics by its official first flight, that way no unexpected "surprises" occur on the flight. Boeing and Northrop Grumman have done this with the 777, 787 and YF-23; where they perfected the flight dynamics in a flight simulator, and I'm pretty sure every new plane nowadays by any major aerospace manufactures like Airbus or LockMart was done like this too, especially with the F-35.

    Fun fact: The US actually conducted carrier trials with 3 modified U-2's from the USS America & USS Ranger. They even conducted at least 1 official recon mission in 1964, which had them launch a U-2 from a carrier, the USS Ranger, to spy on a French nuclear test in the Pacific.

    Damn, you did a wonderful job on the Pond Racer! It would be cool of someone would resurrect the design or something like it IRL. Reno needs more modern air racers in unlimited class. Its a real shame the original crashed and Burt Rutan never pursued the design after that.

  • Can Someone Please Specify What the Electric SP Tag Means/Includes? 5.0 years ago

    @randomusername
    Well everyone has their own unique style of doing things. And this was a mere concept of mine; not a fully fledged-out model like my latest QLX-125, BAE Broadsword, or BNRV-36A Broadsword where those models took around 2 months each to develop (time constraints). Like I said if you want to be die-hard focused on definitions and specifics, fine, you do you, but don't force it on others.

    Yea it's definitely daunting at first. That's why I originally went for SP instead of Blender to create 3D airplane designs. But now that I've learned most of the features with Blender, I'm seriously thinking of trying my hand at creating a fully-functioning airplane model for FSX.

    If you have no ideas for builds or your not very good at building, yea I can see SP quickly growing boring for that person. I think many people are also waiting on SR2. I more than likely won't be getting SR2 at launch, so I'll be stuck on SP for a while before I get the chance to go to SR2, which isn't a huge deal as I still have many airplane concepts and ideas I want to make in SP. Besides, I heard in SR2 they don't have typical aircraft engines yet, only rocket engines.

  • How do you feel about the F-35? 5.5 years ago

    @BlackhattAircraft
    The A-10 situation is a little bit tricky. I don't think we'll ever see another attacker such as the A-10. The A-10's replacement will either be a stealth strike fighter like the F-35 dropping smart precision bombs or it will be a light-CAS plane such as the A-29 Super Tucano, AT-6C Wolverine, or the Textron Scorpion light attack jet.

  • How do you feel about the F-35? 5.5 years ago

    I think the F-35 is turning out to be an excellent fighter pioneering many new bleeding edge technologies, although the JSF Program was going to be a painful one from the start. Creating a fighter where the base airframe could serve the requirements of 3 different branches is an incredibly difficult task. So the JSF Program was going to be difficult right off the bat whether the X-32 or X-35 were chosen. In my opinion, the X-35 was the better bet of the two JSF birds because the X-35 was more complete and functioning and had better performance than the X-32. I think LM with their X-35 focused on performance and functionality and Boeing with their X-32 focused more on ease of manufacturing and low-costs to build and purchase the original delta X-32 design. I think Boeing shot itself in the foot when they had to do a major redesign of the X-32 and their X-32 prototype looked nothing like the new final design of the F-32, meaning the data and performance the X-32 gained meant nothing (at least that's how I see it). The X-32 was also doomed when they had to strip parts and move the X-32 flight testing to a more denser atmosphere for it to hover efficiently. IMHO the X-32 was a glorified stealth Harrier and would probably have given the US more headaches than the X-35.

    The F-35 Program in general did suffer massive cost overruns and poor management but as time went on the F-35 has really shaped up to be a great fighter.

    I think the idea that a single base air-frame with a few corresponding mods could serve the needs of 3 different military branches was a pretty dumb idea from the start. IMHO, the JSF Program was better off not to be pursued and each branch should have gotten their own specialized independently designed fighter.

    But either way the F-35 is turning out to be good and lets hope the US doesn't repeat the same mistakes with the F-X and F/A-XX programs.

    Anyone who builds a YF-23 on SP will get an upvote + spotlight from me because the YF-23 is one of the sexiest planes to ever grace the skies and it's sad it wasn't chosen. I hope Japan gets some hybrid of it from Northrop Grumman for their F-3 Fighter Program.

    Oh God that's horrible. I don't know what to say as I've never been through anything like that. I mean, I've been deeply depressed on a few occasions such as when my grades became final with 2 classes flunked (nearly brought me to deleting all of my social media including my SP account) and my not-so-stellar school performance for the last 3 years, but that's nothing compared to what your going through. It's truly sad, and I hate it when I hear about parents getting divorced and they still have a bird in the nest. I've heard divorces really shatter many kids, and their views on reality. I'm very grateful my parents never separated, but it's really unfortunate many kids have to suffer with divorced or cheating parents. I hope you make it through this, and always know that even in the worst and darkest storms, there's light and calm weather. You will not be forgotten if you leave SP. I'm not pushing or forcing my Christianity on you, and I hope you don't mind what I'm about to say, but I pray that God helps you on navigating through this storm, and keep in mind that you will always have an honest and loving father in heaven. I know it seems like fantasy to many, but I have seen God work in my life before, many times, and I believe he can help you too. I know SP has a no-religion policy, but to anyone reading this, please do not respond to my comment mentioning religion or trying to start an argument with me, you'll only spark a comment war and this post is NOT the place for a comment war. If you want to argue, take it to Reddit or YouTube.
