@Tang0five lol, i was running out of "Animal name here" then "cat" options, I already did the Rhinocat and Grumman ran through a fair number themselves.... Simples.
@Falkenwut well i have finished building my next entry, it takes as long to strip it down and attach the parts to the sprue as it does to build it from scratch lol. Now to spend some time uploading pictures and sorting instructions...
@Tang0five thanks, its my usual mashup, i based it roughly on a Percival Mew Gull with a bit of Miles Magister thrown in (plus a Mustang fin, why not eh.) I wanted something that i could create with a hollow fus and 2 wing sections per most airfix kits, it was so hard to do....
@Falkenwut yeah i get the idea, and its your challenge so i will try and abide, just frustrating that all my subassemblies are not acceptable but hey ho. PS mine will probably fly anyway when the stand is off, i cant see why it shouldnt, afterall with some string most plastic kits will fly =)
@Falkenwut what do you mean by disqualification for XML weight adjustments? All my sub assemblies have 0 mass and drag so it can be added in a controlled manner once built, does that mean that anything I build will be disqualified?
@FatEgg lol, looks like you had fun. The alternative colour scheme is the link at the bottom of the text block, the engines spool up to idle when you load in, press 8 if you want to stop them. Enjoy.
@CRJ900Pilot @BroAeronautics @MontyPython thanks for the comments and upvotes, its certainly unique, I can see the resemblance to the ascender but this is different in almost every part - compare it to a bearcat however...
@Tang0five wow, 23 upvotes on my 1000part x32 ripoff... that's a bit of a kick. I wonder whether it just didnt appeal to the masses (well it's not a f105 or f15 is it) or if I just caught everyone asleep.
@Tang0five whoops, nearly missed this... I suppose my eyes have been too full of Canberras of late. This looks mighty impressive though, that scheme must have taken ages.
@MethaManAircraft wow, reply and a half.
Speed is difficult to get right at all altitudes (i suppose with new inputs i might be able to slave an airbrake to altitude but ive not tried it) so I set it for high altitude cruising
Drag from the flaps, again subjective, i didnt want it falling out of the sky at slow speeds,
Landing gear, I dont like linking doors to same button as LG as they clash, if there was a way to delay a rotators to properly sequence I would.
Manoverability, again subjective, I wanted it to still be controllable at high altitudes and not have a problem at slow speed, again if not 100% accurate its usable.
The co-pilot has a ground looking radar screen in front of him to use for bombing (I thought a bit more tech, rather than another seat / bomb aimers position was preferable for this invented build)
Part count is due to the paneleing of the fus and wings along with the number of dials etc. Flight model is more to make the plane fun to fly rather than be 100% accurate, nothing worse than not being able to manoever on what is essentially a game. Thanks for the post, hope this answers some questions and highlights my philosophy for this build.
@ND40X quote on the ee lightning, "A combination of Dunlop Maxaret[50]anti-skid brakes on the main wheels and an Irvin Air Chute[67] braking parachute slowed the aircraft during landing. A tailhook was also fitted."
@Stormfur I did use 3 different colours on the wing to help with that, I meant to do the same on the fus but forgot so that only has orange and yellow.
@ChiChiWerx now that is one of the most accurate statements I have had on a build, you could have added at the end something along the lines of, "then they bought the aircraft in from Boeing etc at an even higher cost, replacing home grown perfectly capable aircraft that now reside on a scrap pile".
@Spikerya id never even heard of that plane... cant say that for many aircraft =) dont think ill be building one anytime soon though, thanks for the comment.
@Mustang51 thanks =) I enjoyed building this, opposite of making things as streamlined as possible lol. Pity it seems to be one of my lowest upvoted builds though....
@Hedero I normally have a vague concept, such as build something short and stumpy or a mix of different aircraft. Then i usually build the fuselage first to suit what i want, with everything else following on from there. On this i wanted to do the scheme (it used to be on a packet from a foam glider i used to get as a kid), so i wanted something with lots of flat surfaces instead of the usual round fus, it was from a starfighter so it made sense to be something similar and i wanted 2 engines in a lightning style configuration. The rest just followed on from there. The undercarriage was the hardest bit to fit on the airframe though as it has to not be wing mounted (pylons in the way) and avoid the air intakes.
@SovietBun I have loads of almost finished builds.... I get to a point where I just need to add landing gear and details etc then move onto something else that inspires me =) From time to time I have a clear out of old unfinished builds and publish them.
I thought I recognised that nose... :)
+1@Tang0five lol, i was running out of "Animal name here" then "cat" options, I already did the Rhinocat and Grumman ran through a fair number themselves.... Simples.
+1@MintLynx i shall have a look, i have never built a sub so will have to do some research first.
+1@Falkenwut well i have finished building my next entry, it takes as long to strip it down and attach the parts to the sprue as it does to build it from scratch lol. Now to spend some time uploading pictures and sorting instructions...
+1@Giantwhale no idea, dont have a 3d printer
+1@Falkenwut cool, on with my second one now then. Thanks.
+1@Tang0five thanks, its my usual mashup, i based it roughly on a Percival Mew Gull with a bit of Miles Magister thrown in (plus a Mustang fin, why not eh.) I wanted something that i could create with a hollow fus and 2 wing sections per most airfix kits, it was so hard to do....
+1@Falkenwut Thanks =) I did try to change all the parts to 1 mass, sorry if i missed any
+1@Potkuri try this one literally just added 2 wings to simulate the tail plane lol, i thought i had already done that on the kit version... ooops.
+1@Falkenwut I'm in, mine didnt upload as a successor for some reason but I have asked ED to fix this for me. If you want to see the build it is here
+1@Falkenwut yeah i get the idea, and its your challenge so i will try and abide, just frustrating that all my subassemblies are not acceptable but hey ho. PS mine will probably fly anyway when the stand is off, i cant see why it shouldnt, afterall with some string most plastic kits will fly =)

+1@Tang0five man, so do I a) finish the p40 plastic kit on my work bench or b) build a plastic kit on a computer game...
+1Who gives a flying.... people come and go, this one seems to cause drama regardless of what they do, just get over it.
+1@Gfishiest have a look at this guide by ED and WNP it might help explain some bits.
+1@FatEgg lol, looks like you had fun. The alternative colour scheme is the link at the bottom of the text block, the engines spool up to idle when you load in, press 8 if you want to stop them. Enjoy.
+1@Zoowarp yes :)
+1@CRJ900Pilot @BroAeronautics @MontyPython thanks for the comments and upvotes, its certainly unique, I can see the resemblance to the ascender but this is different in almost every part - compare it to a bearcat however...
+1@nadvgia @Alexander31 @Mustang51 thanks, glad you liked it, a backwards bearcat is unique at least :)
+1@Tang0five wow, 23 upvotes on my 1000part x32 ripoff... that's a bit of a kick. I wonder whether it just didnt appeal to the masses (well it's not a f105 or f15 is it) or if I just caught everyone asleep.
+1I just break each letter down into multiple parts so you can bend them around the shape.
+1@Sutairs I use the blueprint mod, I add a screenshot to it then "photo" the screenshot when uploading.
+1@Tang0five whoops, nearly missed this... I suppose my eyes have been too full of Canberras of late. This looks mighty impressive though, that scheme must have taken ages.
+1@Diloph just
+1@Chancey21 @ThomasRoderick orbit view? What's that? I just use any external view that let's me scroll about :)
+1@Megamonster Well imagine that, I didnt even know anyone had mentioned the JP, did you not like this one?
+1@MethaManAircraft wow, reply and a half.

Dave
+1@Tang0five he was seconded, i mean kidnapped and forced to work, yeah definately kidnapped. I can claim its under 1000 parts now though =)
+1@CenturiVonKikie told you I was pondering a fighter version =)
+1@ND40X quote on the ee lightning, "A combination of Dunlop Maxaret[50]anti-skid brakes on the main wheels and an Irvin Air Chute[67] braking parachute slowed the aircraft during landing. A tailhook was also fitted."
+1@jamesPLANESii probably due to using the same real aircraft for inspiration :)
+1@Stormfur I did use 3 different colours on the wing to help with that, I meant to do the same on the fus but forgot so that only has orange and yellow.
+1@EternalDarkness thanks for the spotlight and upvote, it helped me to get nearly 40 up votes for the first time in ages.
+1No1 would be the extra axis on parts so you can twist them into aerofoil shapes etc.
+1@ChiChiWerx now that is one of the most accurate statements I have had on a build, you could have added at the end something along the lines of, "then they bought the aircraft in from Boeing etc at an even higher cost, replacing home grown perfectly capable aircraft that now reside on a scrap pile".
+1@edensk finally posted it, thanks for your help.
+1@FranzPeterSiegfried mby but I'm getting more and more fed up with the game. Plenty of ideas/inspiration still.
+1@Spikerya id never even heard of that plane... cant say that for many aircraft =) dont think ill be building one anytime soon though, thanks for the comment.
+1@GeneralPatrick2 forward is subjective.
+1@edensk @ThePilotDude @Wi1dSk7 thanks guys, glad you liked it.
+1@Mustang51 thanks =) I enjoyed building this, opposite of making things as streamlined as possible lol. Pity it seems to be one of my lowest upvoted builds though....
+1@Shippy456 itsit's not really a plane, more like a supersized hovercraft. It uses ground effect to lift out of the water.
+1this for sure

+1@sancziimrelajos thanks for the comment and upvote =)
+1@LeonardoEngineering nose has mass and some little wings to help fly so when a detached is used between it and the rest it wobbles about....
+1I think 100k needs a new colour, mby there should be all scales of grey... or pink, yeah make me pink.
+1@SovietBun I have loads of almost finished builds.... I get to a point where I just need to add landing gear and details etc then move onto something else that inspires me =) From time to time I have a clear out of old unfinished builds and publish them.
+1@Mustang51 no worries, that's me done now :)
