BAC 1-11 200 Series

52.5k Tang0five  4.0 years ago

First and foremost I thank Mustang51 for the inspiration/suggestion to make a British Caledonia liveried 1-11. This was my most ambitious livery to date and I hope this lives up to expectation! I doubt anyone reads all my descriptions so I’ll post pretty pictures first and reading homework later (optional of course!)

BAC 1-11 200 SERIES
Type: short range, twin rear mounted engines with a ‘T’ tailed configuration.
Introduced: 20 August 1963. Production ran from 1963-1982 in the UK and 1982-1989 in Romania under licence as the ‘Rombac’
Service: mostly retired in the 90s. Some remained in service as engine test beds etc till 2012 when Airbus rather underhandedly requested the type certification be removed by the European Aviation Safety Agency (obviously so everyone can fly around in 320s.....) final 1-11 retired 2019.
Major users: British Caledonian, American Airlines, British Airways, Braniff Airways, British United, Aer Lingus, Dan Air, British Midlands, Ryan Air, Monarch and various others.

Controls and instructions

AG1 - Port (left) engine
AG2 - Starboard engine
AG3 - Cabin lights
AG8 - Nav Lights
VTOL down - flaps
Brake - Brake and spoilers

Trim has been set for 75% throttle at a cruising altitude of 20,000ft.

FLAPS ARE A GIMMICK (before I get the “flaps don’t work” criticism) and I’ll tell you why - although they help for takeoff in this game they are a damn nuisance for landing and thus I have omitted the functionality with that said I feel these are my best flaps to date. Maybe 2.0 can feature some realistic flap feature?

Engines are independently controlled (AG1&2) to offer a chance of recovery from flat tail spins should you enter one - and is more realistic! Typically ‘T’ configured aircraft enter a ‘deep stall’ hence why the Trident was the first aircraft to implement a stick shaker to alert the pilots to the approaching stall.

Time to wax the ‘tache and don the aviators, tally ho!

Glad you like it! I’ve made the proposed 3-11 version (basically a larger version of the 1-11) should be released within the next few weeks after I iron out some issues. @NITROSHARK

Thanks @Trijets for that, older devices can’t use the designer suite so predominantly building replicas takes a while. Oh and thanks for chalking up the half century too!

If this was made on iOS, I am just going to give a salute to all of the iOS and Android users who make stunning builds like these

Thanks old boy for spotlighting! Oh yeah and parts intensive too. Made for a few crashes even with drag disabled etc. I don’t see how you push out so many builds with 1k parts+ @RamboJutter

@Tang0five whoops, nearly missed this... I suppose my eyes have been too full of Canberras of late. This looks mighty impressive though, that scheme must have taken ages.
