You can avoid getting targeted by it by spawning inside it. Issue is that it's rather annoying to have to restart in it, transfer to your intended location, and do this every time you want to not get killed by it.
As for most useless... it'd probably be something I give next to no thought. Probably some legacy control. Rotation buttons, maybe?
If I don't want to fuck with connections I use position tool, and if I'm lazy and and can afford to use the legacy 90 degree rotations I'll just use the keybinds.
Of course, this doesn't apply so much if you're a mobile player.
