IMPORTANT (20/12/25):

DO NOT USE THIS DEVICE IN SIMPLEPLANES 2. IT WILL ACCUMULATE UNTIL THE WORLD IS RESET. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE FOR SERVERS, WHICH WILL REQUIRE RESETTING.

While mechanically it still functions last I checked, the issue is that SP2 isn't like SP where the world is constantly being restarted. While you can still reset the world in SP2, it is not something most are likely to do as often and in the case of servers will require booting everyone playing in it.

I was procrastinating on a project and thought "Hmm, I wonder if I could make a BlackBeam weapon?"
BlackBeam is an advanced weapon technology used by Soia in very high-power superweapons. It essentially looks like negative energy bleed (more complex, really), and basically "casts" shadows in a VERY freaky effect. That's not possible in SP, but I wanted to see if I could make a single long black band using the cannon part, as I thought it'd give a bit more oompf than a normal gun, or at least feel that way with explosions and such.
High ROF, ultrahigh velocity (the real technology is superluminal, after all), and giant black tracers.
Didn't work, but I attached it to a turret to try to kill the Beast and co. with it since it'd definitely do a LOT of damage. In hitting the island I found it left marks behind on solid objects.
I knew what I had to do.
over building it (an hour, maybe more?) I replaced the cockpit and blocks with cameras and fuselage to make it look nice, and the result is what you see here.
As such, penicillin. A completely accidental discovery.
