Another idea I have is an approach similar to the rotation with Fine Tuner. In that mode, mirroring axis would be the first selected part of the group, which would not be mirrored. Other selected parts would then mirror around it when the command is given.
As a more or less active player of ten years, I'm quite accustomed to the old system, flawed as it is. Of course, extra options like parts being mirrored while they are being added would be welcome. In fact, that would considerably accelerate the early build process, where a bunch of large parts need to form a (usually) symmetric base of the build. Perhaps some builds could benefit from four-way radial mirroring, and certainly some subassemblies would, so I suggest adding that too as an option.
Perhaps a system in which we could multi-select parts for both nudging an mirroring would be handy. If a subassembly is supposed to appear multiple times on a build (ex. seats), you could just select the whole thing, and nudge and mirror in increments without having to unselect the assembly to mirror it.
It looks great, especially the roundels. And I'm stealing that engine realism stuff if I ever build a plane again.
It's really well built, flies great, and even has wingtip stall like the real thing. 10/10
This is a very good build. I'd just suggest giving it a better description. A word or two about the plane itself, a list of which button does what, maybe a few pictures of the plane in action...
It's a pretty good Handley Paige Type O, but I do have a few suggestions. I'll happily explain every single one if you'd like, but I'll just list them now so I don't waste my breath (keyboard) if you don't want them. They are in no way meant to cause offense, and are just advice from a guy who has been playing this thing for the last ten years and knows a trick or two.
You could use better wings, but these are fine for this detail level. You could use custom (rotator powered) control surfaces with this kind of wings to get both more realistic shape of the control surface and smoother movement.
I'd suggest using either camera aiming or automatic aiming for the defensive turrets instead of manual inputs. They are really difficult to accurately aim with Yaw and VTOL on PC.
Yaw doesn't seem to move the rudders as it should. Combined with the atrocious directional stability of this plane, they are kind of necessary. Also, you could hide a bigger vertical stabilizer inside the rear fuselage to improve directional stability.
Maximum speed is way too high. You can make the plane lighter or wings more effective with XML editing (Overload mod) to allow it to remain stable at lower speed, and then you can reduce engine power. I think that would improve realism.
Overall, I like the build. It feels heavy like it should, it has interior, and I can see you actually put some time into making it good. Even if you don't want to publish another version, it might be worth a try implementing my tips into it so you know how to use them for the next one. As I've said, I will gladly explain them to you if you want.
@Cuboidable it's a combination of the Turkish word "kara", which means "black", and "Đorđe", Serbian equivalent of the name "George". Karađorđe was the leader of the First Serbian Uprising against the Turks.
@Cuboidable you can build an airship, but there's no need to make it for the challenge. All the entries have been rated, winners declared, and rewards shared over a year ago.
@ThePurPledEngineer2025 take your time with complex techniques. They're usually worth trying out and adding them to your arsenal. As for the ownership of the build, as long as it is successor, it's fine. You can modify it all you want. Also, according to upvotes, Astro12 doesn't seem to mind. Modifying other people's builds is a great way to learn new and better ways of doing things.
The wing technique I sent you isn't very complicated, but it gives a pretty decent airfoil and is easy to get into the right shape. I suggest copying it piece by piece to see how it works. After that, it should be easy to apply to any build.
@Graingy that was old even back when I started. From what I remember, it was added for Hypnotoad's style of builds, but that was years after Hypnotoad went inactive.
@Graingy @JBPAviation @SimplPleyns it was intended for the stuff like what Hypnotoad used to make. It was quite popular before fuselage blocks were a thing.
@RamboJutter my first thought when I saw it was "does the lower wing detach?". Maybe do Nikitin-Shevchenko IS-2 instead. Its lower wing retracts into the upper one.
Maybe do that but with a different fuselage.
It's advisable to have a structural wing spanning most of the lenth of the ship, positioned vertically, and a rudded under the stern as a real ship would. Edit liftScale of the big wing ("keel") so it prevents drifting but not turning. Adjust liftScale of the rudder to get adequate turn radius.
If you'd like to learn more about shipbuilding techniques, you can find useful tutorials on PortSP Discord server. You can find a link in my bio.
This is a really nice ship for its part count. Keep up the good work.
@Noobslayer21 you managed to break two rules with one post. Political statements are not allowed on the site, and the thumbnail must depict the build itself, not what the build is supposed to look like. I suggest removing and reposting it with an appropriate thumbnail before the moderators get to it.
This is a beautifully modeled build, though I would suggest a few minor improvements. You can add audio = false to jointRotator tab in Overload to make rotators quiet. You can also add diffuseInertiaTensors = false to the end of the first paragraph of XML so that moving the ailerons doesn't shake the whole plane. It should look like this. And I think you have a bit too much pitch authority. That aside, I really enjoyed flying this plane around. Using cannons for Maxim machine guns is a great idea, and decals are beautiful.
Great work on the tracks. They held up great on some pretty rough terrain. The thingy looks amazing too. Only thing I'd suggest changing are turret inputs. You'd get much more accurate aiming with something like sum(Roll) for traverse. Oh, and maybe add a camera to the gunner's position so the gun can be aimed in first person. Still, amazing build. I had quite a bit of fun running it around Bandit airport.
This is an absolutely amazing build for a bronze level user. Some tweaks could improve its usability a bit, but nothing major. I'd suggest using roll for turning, since it doesn't appear to be used for anything else. That allows for much more accurate steering on PC, where we don't have those little thumb joysticks on screen to control yaw. I also suggest using input sum(Yaw) for the turret traverse. It's more intuitive.
I see the build has a lot of moving parts, proportion is good, and you even added cameras to everything important, which is something many experienced builders forget to do. Makes me wonder if you've had an account before of if this really is your first one.
Also, it would be a good idea to write which input and activation group does what so people can just jump in and use it without having to figure it out themselves. I still haven't figured out what group 1 and 2 do. It's best to write it in both the ingame instructions and the description.
There are also inputs that would allow Inferno missiles to pop up automatically when selected, and that would limit the top speed. I'll find them for you if you want.
@GabrielFangster70 It's just another "I'm leaving" posts by a user with fewer than a hundred followers with whom I've interacted once or twice. If I weren't tagged on it, I wouldn't have given it a second glance. If you didn't want my opinion, why tag me?
As for that build, I'm leaking it all over the place. I've even sent unlisted version to a few guys who want to learn how to build their own sailing ships. The whole thing actually began as a learning tool for age of sail hulls, funnily enough.
Not bad for a new guy. Proportion is way off, but that's usual for the first few builds. I suggest trying to match the blueprints of a real aircraft on your next build to get a sense of proportion and what goes where. You have a lot more details than is usual for new guys, and I can see you have spent some time and effort on this build. Here's a little tutorial for more realistic wings for when you feel comfortable enough to try slightly more advanced stuff. If you need any tips regarding the building, feel free to ask.
By the way, pictures in your description don't work because your formatting is wrong. It should be . Make sure the link is to the image itself (the one you get when you open the image in a new tab), and not a link to the page containing the image.
(edit)
I forgot to mention, it flies quite well. I enjoyed flying it. Cockpit layout is a bit unconventional, but I guess it works well with VR.
Beautiful build, though I'd suggest giving it a better set of wings. There's this trick with fuselage slicing that lets you build realistic wings quite easily.
Quit overreacting and keep building. When you feel like it, that is. This is not a job, it's a hobby. You spend time in it when you have spare time for it and when you have motivation and inspiration. Nobody's asking you to pump out a post every few days.
New game being in development doesn't mean the current one is suddenly any worse. It's not stopping me from attempting my most ambitious project yet.
@PlaneFun1 SimplePlanes 2 should be coming out this year. I think that might be worth coming back for. I'm glad to see you're still alive and taking some time for your hobbies.
@LonelySea22 remind me, are you in PortSP? If not, it's a discord server I run with some friends that is focused on ships, airships, seaplanes, and such. You can find a link to join in my bio. I think you'd fit right in.
Excellent build, both in terms of looks and in terms of performance. It lacks a bit of drag so it's quite reluctant to lose speed when landing, but other than that she was a pleasure to fly. Cockpit could use some work. I had a bit of trouble finding the switches in the dark. Overall a very nice plane.
@SPsidearm what? It's only 1.5k. That's mobile friendly these days ):
If you can't run it, ping me again tomorrow and I'll make a somewhat stripped down version.

May I suggest using this kind of wing for Vol-4? I see you're making good progress with this plane.
@zap210 sweet. I can't wait to see more of your stuff.
+2Welcome back. It's been a while. It's good to see some of the old guard coming back.
+3Just join a discord server and make some friends. There's dozens of servers.

Maybe do that but with a different fuselage.
Not really 1:1, real one being considerably smaller, but it looks great nonetheless. Good job.
+1@Cuboidable I literally had the tag made for this build (:
+1Maybe for those yet to come too, if I ever stick with one for long enough to finish it.
Just when you think RJ designs couldn't get any weirder XD
Great build mate.
Congratulations on platinum. Very nice build.

I see that the predecessor is in an appropriate color (:
+1Not much difference from the previous version, but it's still a really nice build. I had some fun strafing things with it.

@PlaneFun1 he deleted his account. Didn't even say goodbye.
@PlaneFun1 did you save any stuff from your old account? It might be nice to post a few if you still have them.
@YarisSedan it's fine. We were younger back then. Kids do dumb stuff. I did my share of stirring trouble too, back in a day.
@PlaneFun1 SimplePlanes 2 should be coming out this year. I think that might be worth coming back for. I'm glad to see you're still alive and taking some time for your hobbies.
