@PapaKernels I'd say try Vincent or BaconAircraft, I tried them last time and one of them helped (not sure which one of them as they didn't reply just silently set the successor)

Dear participants! Please make sure that your entry is built upon the challenge cockpit so that it will be a successor. If it's not, you can fix it by saving your already built ship as a subassembly, and then load up the challenge cockpit, and place the subassembly on it.
Alternatively, you could try asking a moderator after you uploaded the build to set your post as a successor to the challenge post.

@PapaKernels Can you please ask a mod to set it as a successor (it was one of the challenge requirements). It looks great btw, Im looking forward to test it! :D

@GovernorG I recommend giving credit to the people whose work you use in the future, it's just common courtesy. It doesn't have to be much, just something like "credit to realSavageMan for the hull and to BMilan for the gun" at the end of the description would work imo.

Wow, that looks pretty good! And your other ship builds too!
May I interest you with the Port SP discord server? It's a server dedicated to ship building in Simpleplanes. We share screenshots of our builds, help each other with questions and improvements, and overall chat about ships and boats (and have other activites like movie nights), it's place for SP ship builders to get even better. If you are interested I'll leave an invite here:
    https://discord.gg/ftMUAtK7Ka

(P.s. I hope you dont mind this little server advertisement here, I always try to share our server with promising ship builders, but if you mind, feel free to delete this comment)

@ThatIsKrazyMan There is one done tho by Oukarine, but that one is not listed as a successor because the website is acting funny.
The rest are still working on theirs, they are showing their progress in Port SP

@w101tdi I'm not sure I can explain it easily. I recommend just using MisterT's original walk camera build (I linked it in the description), that is relatively simple to implement and the only thing you won't have is the body of the visitor (it will be just a floating camera).
I dont really have many tips for making a building as I havent made too many before but here is what comes to my mind right now:
In the case of a museum, dont overdo the building's decoration because the focus should be on the exhibition pieces and so by sparing parts on the building itself, you can use more parts on the pieces. You could maybe try designing the building around the thing you are exhibiting: I tried to make the building to look like a sort of warehouse that would be in a port where a ship docks which is relevant to Titanic.
In your case, an NBA/NFL museum would may be nice if you made the building look like a small arena or something.

  • Dreadnought Challenge (1906-1920) [CLOSED] 2.3 years ago

@PapaKernels Hmm, It's certainly allowed, but then it's gonna lose some points for being a non-accurate replica. Maybe instead of Pennsylvania itself, you could make it to be a fictional, third Pennsylvania-class BB, that didnt have its gun arrangement changed during the refits, then I wont have to judge it as a replica but as a fictional ship, and you still get to build a Pennsylvania class BB. You could even write a cool fictional service history for it :D

  • Dreadnought Challenge (1906-1920) [CLOSED] 2.3 years ago

@Samflugzeugpanzer the quad turrets are fine, however, don't you think that 18 guns in total (assuming the other three are twin turrets) might be a bit overkill?
Even Agincourt only had 14 and the Lyon-class would have had 16 but they were never built.

A sidenote: judgement won't be based on the strength, you don't have to build the biggest, fastest, most gunned, most overkill ship ever.

  • Dreadnought Challenge (1906-1920) [CLOSED] 2.3 years ago

    @Fineilldoitmyself
    1. There weren't any dreadnoughts before 1906. HMS Dreadnought started this line of ships when it was launched in 1906 hence why the challenge is between 1906-1920 (battleships after 1920 were mostly battlecruisers or fast battleships)
If your dreadnought is in an AU with an alternative timeline where technology evolved faster and dreadnoughts were created by the 1850s, that's fine (although Im expecting a bit of lore written in the description then), but if it was meant to be in the real world timeline, then it's way too far fetched for a dreadnought to be that early.
    2. As the rules state, the build has to be newly built and has to be a successor to this post. You can't enter with something you already published

  • RMS Titanic 2.3 years ago

@Planebuilder2123 Not sure. I stopped working on it nowadays for other projects and I dont wanna make any more promises I can't keep. I'll tag everyone who asked about it when it eventually gets finished, but as of now, I dont know when will that happen, sorry. :(

  • Dreadnought Challenge (1906-1920) [CLOSED] 2.3 years ago

@Samflugzeugpanzer Did some digging for you and the most I could find was that HMS Renown, HMS Repulse and HMS Hood (all three are battlecruisers, not dreadnoughts but they were built in ww1) had above-waterline torpedo tubes. However, these were fixed tubes and not the rotary type that you'd see on a destroyer.

  • Dreadnought Challenge (1906-1920) [CLOSED] 2.3 years ago

@Samflugzeugpanzer A general rule of thumb is: if you can prove that at least one real life example had it, then go for it!

I'm totally chill, but one upvote or not, it's still a blatant stealing of my work

  • Dreadnought Challenge (1906-1920) [CLOSED] 2.3 years ago

@TWDDerSharkmarine I'd say no, let's leave those out of this challenge, maybe in the pre-dreadnought challenge I'm planning in the future.
You can make Kawachi tho, as far as I know they are counted as dreadnoughts not semi-dreadnoughts (they had a uniform 12 inch main battery although the wing guns were different caliber than the centerline ones, but still all of them were 12 inch)

  • Dreadnought Challenge (1906-1920) [CLOSED] 2.3 years ago

@Tookan Nope, this challenge is only for dreadnoughts. But I might do a pre-dreadnought one after this.

  • Dreadnought Challenge (1906-1920) [CLOSED] 2.3 years ago

@Samflugzeugpanzer As the description states, yes, super dreadnoughts are allowed.
There is no post limit (spam will simply be disqualified) so go ahead with the refits (one user can only take one place in the top 3 tho, so for example if one of your versions make it into the top three, then the others wont)
    Good luck!

I decided to collect the things this calculation doesn't take into account:
    - pirates: a large part of the community didn't actually buy the game.
    - alt accounts: you mentioned that there are approx. 300k users, but dont forget the fact that quite many users have at least one but sometimes two or three or even more alt accounts
    - multiple purchases: another thing that should be counted is the fact that some might purchased the game on multiple platforms. I personally bought it on PC and Android as well.
    - bots: there is a huge number of bots on the website, since registering to the website is not connected to actually owning the game, so there are a lot of bots that advertise malware and scams.
    - The assumption of everyone buying it for 6$ is a bit rough as well: In the past 5 years, I've seen the game being on sale on Steam several times and even saw it on at least three occasions being sold for just 1$ on some online video game stores (legit ones, not shady ones).
    - Banned and left users: They are probably a small portion of the community, but it should also be accounted that there are users who bought the game but their website accounts were temp- or perma banned. There are also those people who bought the game and left the website (and deleted their accs) by their own will.
    - Non registered users: Also a probably small group are the people who bought the game but they didn't register a user on the website

I meant no harm by this, the post is still an interesting calculation, I just wanted to add some additional information to it. :)
