Auto Credit Based on BMilan's Dreadnought Challenge (1906-1920) [CLOSED]

Vanitas vanitatum, et omnia vanitas

  • A contestant for BMilan's Dreadnaught challenge
  • Planned part count was around 2500 (maximum), went almost to 5k
  • Not VR capable, planned to do so
  • Ship's camouflage is unique to the other side
  • Fictional build
  • Ship building spanned to almost six months, starting from 1/29/23 until 6/14/23. Approximately around 200+ hours total.
  • Her nickname is 'Lori'

Stuff
Vanitatum-class dreadnaughts were a class of (x) ships built around 1914-1924. All of the ships were refitted at 19xx to accomodate higher speed, better armament against aircraft and upgraded early detection of aerial targets.

Vanitatum's construction started in 1914 and was comissioned in late 1917. The design of the ship was adapted for faster speeds with a more slender design inspired by various battlecruisers of the same era. The class' purpose is to become the vanguard of the fleet's offense and defense, using their speed and 12 main guns to break enemy formations. Vanitatum received her camouflage in early 1920 and has retained her unique pattern, through several revisions. The crew has grown to call their ship 'Lori' or 'Loriini' due to her camouflage, analogous to birds of the same name.

Controls, Armaments, and other word-y things are added in the PDF file above to lessen the things to read in the description. Controls are also added in the craft instructions

Afterword

'The ship's camouflage is not added like it's attached, no no no. The camouflage is cut to the hull itself which makes the surface of the sides smooth. '

    Official evaluation

    - First Impression (5/5):

The ship appears elegant, mighty and fearsome. The detail work immediately struck me and the design was overall pleasant to look at with the camo giving a great first impression.

    - Design/Accuracy (13/15):

The design matches a refitted dreadnought from the second half of the interwar period/early ww2 with cataputls and dual purpose anti air weaponry, although a ship from this era would probably have a bigger, more developed superstructure.
The width of the ship is just slightly too thick in my opinion, the torpedo bulge could be reduced a bit.

    - Details (15/15):

The detail work is astonishing. Even some very small details are worked out and they use some very creative solutions (more about this in the Build Quality segment).
The addition of things like rails around the catapult area, a small table with chairs, waving flags really stood out to me. The rigging is insanely worked out too with the adition of some nice signal flags too.
Additional detail work also put into things like the secondary and AA weaponry and some nice deck details.
The camouflage is simply incredible, very detailed (not to mention it's different on each side) and very pleasant to look at. It also somewhat achieves the goal of breaking up the ship's silhouette.

    - Features (16/20):

The ship has quite a list of features: apart from the main guns, the secondary and AA guns are also usable, down to the small 50 cal machine guns scattered around the ships. The addition of usable fixed aim torpedoes is also a great touch.
The addition of a catapult is great too, such a shame that it lacks an airplane to launch

    - Build Quality (9/10):

The overall quality of the build is great, such as not lagging my device too much, despite the large part count.
The build uses many creative solutions to reduce somewhat that part count though, including creative part usage for extra detail without extra parts (magnests, airbrakes, rotator backs etc.), a lot of fuselage slicing and even utilizes creative use of labels such as for making ladders.
I especially liked the efficient way the signal flags were made.
Using the vanilla propellers to save parts was a nice idea, although I personally feel like that about 50 parts (my personal estimate to recreate all 4 props) for a custom built propellers wouldnt have made too big a difference.
despite all the part saving efforts, the build still passed the 2500 part count limit.

    - Performance (15/20):

The ship's speed is fine, however the rudder shift is very slow to point that it was slightly running the experience: swinging out to one direction was fine, going back to 0 was very slow.
The main weaponry had a similar problem: while I would have been fine with the turrets turning at a realistic speed, the fact that the camera aim was equally slow. I feel like if the camera had faster turning speed, having to "wait up" for the turrets, would have made the experience much better.
The secondary weapon aim was also quite slow but mostly tolerable.
The ship work quite well with the ocean mode though, and the system to dampen the waves is super clever.

    - Description and Information (12/15):

The description is very long and detailed with some very neat additions. The explanatory pdf is great and the commissioned shipgirl is also a nice little addition although it could have been displayed in the description itself, instead of through a clickable link.
I find the amount of screenshots a bit too much. I'm also a not a fan of leaving specific details like the years to the player to decide, it's your ship, you should specify these.
The nickname is also a nice addition to the lore

    Additional Points (-5, +9):

-5 for passing the 2500 line 1 time
    +6 for the camouflage
+3 for the extra description effort

    Total: 89

    Congratulations for your third place!

This ship is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful warships in the game, it is seen that you have spent time making it. I love the camo too, and I like how it's constructed.
With this ship, there is no doubt that you will have a place on the podium of this challenge, even if I note that there are very beautiful elements in this challenge.

Azusa's halo is a pretty beautiful imo, I actually planned to use Kisaki's but I have skill issue doing her's.

I used the vanity quote due to her EX skill animation line.
(Now I'm sad that I forgot to add a Peroro plushie somewhere onboard)

    @ShiroNeko

In Kivotos, Each student's Halo is unique... There are no students with Similar Halo. Even Momoi and Midori has Different Halos... (LETS NOT INCLUDE MOB-CHAN).... And I Unintentionally Memorized all of the Student's Halos...
    And thats Azusa's Halo right there... :P :P :P :P :P

Though should Vanitas Vanitatum be on Arius Squad? Azusa has already found a meaning in life... They still have not... ESPECIALLY MADOK-- I mean... Especially Misaki...

@Karzigg Yeah, it does give off the same vibes as a (partially) refitted super dreadnought/early fast battleship like the BritishR-class or the Japanese Nagato-class with casement guns and range clocks and whatnot... while also sporting seaplane catapults and late interwar gun directors/optics... that somehow featured no fire control radars whatsoever.

I am not willing to dive into the lore too much, there's too much to read so I made it vague and easier to understand for the common user. If you meant the dates, I plan to leave it to your own imagination

I think you forgot to put some of the numbers in or are you still making the lore of this ship?

only thing specific is if this is a latter refit or not an also no dreadnought has a upper deck torpedo dreads mainly had under water an plus never had airplane catapults tell much later this feels an looks like a mess but it's really good to me it truly feels as though you threw together two completely separate generations
