  • How to become Platinum - Simpleplanes Explained 5.2 years ago

Finding a niche is certainly something that helped me get my internet points. I like building futuristic and doing math, so I guess my niche kinda came naturally.

  • Orbid [Alpha] - Airborne Heavy Weapon Platform 5.2 years ago

@Alpha6 Definitely not cheap. The weapons are probably quite pricey.

  • Peeps. Chill. Successors are cool!!! Here’s why: 5.2 years ago

    @KnightOfRen Very relevant

  • Nexus Designer 5.2 years ago

@STUKAWOLF87 Unfortunately I am unable to pull up the unity file. The mod version included in this post is probably your best shot.

  • Challenges are broken. Let's fix them. 5.2 years ago

@FeiWu I think ED defines rating as the contest host judging entries.

  • [Technical Documentation] Orbidyn-L 5.2 years ago

@WereOutOfNamesArentWe LUNA should work on any aircraft. As long as you follow the instructions, you should be fine. If you run into any problems, feel free to ask too.
    .
This system is free for anyone to use - just give appropriate credit wherever applicable!

  • lmao you guys are not cool 5.2 years ago

    Yeah lmao, keep scrolling

  • PROJECT: Dual Vector | Toulumne Class Fighter 5.3 years ago

    @KnightOfRen Ty!

  • On recent issues 5.3 years ago

    @EternalDarkness Guilty as charged :)

  • On recent issues 5.3 years ago

@BogdanX Definitely. My bushplane that I made was, build-wise, quite mediocre (I am proud of my math behind the engine though). Somehow it got a ton of attention because of the background.
    .
I do wish that people would make their aircraft the primary subject of their thumbnails. In other words, do not edit the plane (brightness/contrast is ok to tweak a little), and to not put in a bunch of extra graphical nonsense. I’d like to believe that my (and your) thumbnails are used to showcase the plane, and little more.

@comradelmo64 Try your best to make creations with nice shapes and paintjobs!

  • Should I make a jamesPLANESii Instagram Account for my SP projects? 5.3 years ago

I saw that post on the gram a while ago. Congrats! Only do it if you want. It might be a good idea to make a quick account to reserve your name though.

  • NPAS Odyn 5.3 years ago

@comradelmo64 Unfortunately there is not a one-size-fits-all way to master XML modding. If I had to give one piece of advice, it would be to develop your skills in math. Regardless of what kind of math you may be studying at the moment, it is important! Eventually, you will be able to use mathematics to do a huge variety of amazing things (including XML modding and Funky Trees).

As for my name, it is a completely random string of letters.

  • SUNBURN - Apertus Class AGRAV Fighter 5.3 years ago

@Sankalpnarayan Setting your physics to “high”, in your settings, should do the trick.

  • Coordinates Mod help (for in-game EASTER EGG) 5.3 years ago

Use “clearDebugExpressions” or something like that.

  • NPAS Odyn 5.3 years ago

@comradelmo64 Ty! Unfortunately, I am too impulsive to be a moderator. At the moment, we have some great mods!

  • No, You do NOT need 'TargetVelocity' to properly lead your target. [Auto Turrets] 5.3 years ago

Note that I have not tried out the beta. I have heard some descriptions of the TargetElevation and TargetHeading parameters that would require some extra steps to this basic method.

  • No, You do NOT need 'TargetVelocity' to properly lead your target. [Auto Turrets] 5.3 years ago

@Dad Depends on the sort of turn. Something sudden cannot be predicted.

  • No, You do NOT need 'TargetVelocity' to properly lead your target. [Auto Turrets] 5.3 years ago

@NumbersNumbersTheMan Looks like they beat me to it. I can't look at the code, but I've heard that it works pretty well!

  • NPAS Odyn 5.3 years ago

@Alpha6 Not necessarily. The main difference between the two weapons is that the delta version is burst-fire.

  • NPAS Odyn 5.3 years ago

@Alpha6 It shouldn’t be too difficult!

  • Greenscreen Map 5.3 years ago

@ProjectVideoGame It should be working on 1.9 too! The reason why I had to update it has to do with SP updating its unity version.

  • Almost 5 years, finally reached Platinum! 5.3 years ago

Yay, I made it on the list! In my eyes, you were always a legend on this site. Congrats on plat!

  • NPAS Odyn 5.3 years ago

@officialryanyang Lmao, yeah I like to mess around in my unlisted posts. Fun times

  • NPAS Odyn 5.3 years ago

@CRJ900Pilot Thank you! We’ll see what’s next. School is starting back up so chances are I will have a hiatus for a few months.

  • NPAS Odyn 5.3 years ago

@goboygo1 Ty! I quite like the name too :)

  • NPAS Odyn 5.3 years ago

@Aeromotive Thank you! The FT alone took days to complete.

  • Finally, a heli from spefy 5.3 years ago

@FLOWRIDER0 Wonderful! I have uploaded the heli. Apparently today is World Helicopter Day, too, so the timing couldn’t be better.

  • Finally, a heli from spefy 5.3 years ago

@MelonLord Awesome! Aerospace engineering is a great career. Very challenging, but also very rewarding. Definitely worth it.

  • Some cool funks in the trees 5.3 years ago

Not sure. This code looks pretty compact to me!

  • [Technical Documentation] Orbidyn-L 5.3 years ago

@FireFast212 Smooth limits how fast a value changes. It lets you designate a rate for the change of the value.

  • [Technical Documentation] Orbidyn-L 5.3 years ago

@FireFast212 It “clamps” whatever is in the parenthesis. As a result, the function will never be lower than zero, or larger than 1.

  • Finally, a heli from spefy 5.3 years ago

@TheSavageManZ Yep! I used a special gyro instead. I didn’t like the imbalance of lateral forces that would come with a tailrotor.

  • Finally, a heli from spefy 5.3 years ago

@MelonLord Ty! I am an an aerospace engineering student, so I often like to copy/paste dynamics stuff. Work wise, I worked with high energy depositions at low-to-medium altitudes. That’s all I’ll elaborate on though - the work is niche and I don’t want to disclose any personally identifiable info.

  • Finally, a heli from spefy 5.3 years ago

@jamesPLANESii Ty! I am self taught with all of my graphics. Work-wise, I am an aerospace engineering student.

  • [Technical Documentation] Orbidyn-L 5.3 years ago

@FireFast212 clamp01 is a function used in Funky Trees.

  • Auto Trim? 5.4 years ago

You might be able to clamp the input to make the trim less powerful.

  • Orbid [Alpha] - Airborne Heavy Weapon Platform 5.4 years ago

    @_PolarSpirit Thank you!

  • Greenscreen Map 5.4 years ago

@Poomch980 No problem! I might as well release a tool that I use for almost every build of mine.

  • Police Ford Explore! (Back The Blue!) 5.4 years ago

No worries! I included my discord as people usually get aggressive when I expose them to an opinion different than theirs. Here's a link that provides some info on how to DM. You are by no means obligated to chat with me, but if you want to, DM me, and I can explain my logic in a friendly and honest way.

  • Yaw-Axis Torque Generation and the ARC Flight System [Technical Documentation | NPAS Odyn] 5.4 years ago

@hpgbproductions The font is one of the built-ins in MS PowerPoint. I think it’s called “Bancgothic” or something like that. The AGs let you specify which flight mode you want to be in.

  • Help with engine start sequence [FT] 5.4 years ago

Hmmm. If its a problem with how the input works itself, then I'm not sure that Funky Trees can be used. That said - I am not very experienced with props. Someone else might be more helpful than me.

  • What am I doing wrong? 5.4 years ago

From the last month I only see one challenge, that seems to be too niche and vague at the same time. The description never defines what sort of posts are expected in a “fallout challenge”. Now, you did state that it must pertain to the storyline, but it still seems kind of vague to me.
    .
I mentioned that the challenge was niche, which can be good or bad for challenge performance. In this case it is bad. A challenge that is hyper-specific forces designers to work within a very narrow range of designs. Instead of a fallout challenge, perhaps reframe the challenge in more general terms. Perhaps pose a challenge with a post-nuclear-apocalyptic spin - that would be a very similar challenge with more wiggle room for participants.
    .
    Hope this helps.
