Edo-45

"Doors are opening, and opportunities are aligning. Was I made for this?"

Here's something a little different. I have been doing a lot of military stuff lately, so this was refreshing.

Controls:

Standard controls with pitch/roll/yaw/throttle. There are airbrakes.

Activator 1 to override turning restrictions (If your wheels are not turning, activate this group)
Activator 2 to use the parking brake
Activator 3 to open/expose engine.

Trim to adjust main wing lift (changes AoA)

Trim down to increase lift/AoA
Trim up to decrease lift/AoA

Tips

This aircraft can fly pretty slowly with trim completely down. Try a throttle of about 50%, for a speed of about 70-80 mph.

Adjustments are necessary when flying at low speed. You are pretty close to stalling when you are flying at minimum speed.

This plane can pretty much land anywhere. Use your parking brake to prevent sliding on inclines.

1. Introduction

As a momentary dip into civilian aviation, SPEcorp's Edo-45 is a purpose-built bushplane that can operate in a variety of environments. The aircraft is inexpensive to purchase and maintain, and can land almost anywhere. As a result, the Edo-45 bushplane experienced minor successes in the civilian market, specifically among rural communities.

Technically speaking, the aircraft is simple. Its novel propulsion system, though, does require a fair amount of explanation. Therefore, the remainder of Edo-45's technical documentation will discuss the Differential Electric Engine.

Sure, it was a long description, but it wasn't too bad. If you read it, then thank you! Special thanks to SPMC for helping me make some aesthetic decisions.

@DatTrainGuy19 Thanks! I am quite happy with this build's reception. Triple digits is quite a lot haha

@Rakoval500k Thanks for the info! When designing this I really had no idea how to design a bushplane. Next time I'll keep those performance metrics in mind and probably install some flaps.

Nice aircraft, but take-off and stall speeds are too high for a "bush plane", they're approximately at 50-60 knots. A real bush planes have those speeds at 25-35 knots. So here i found and brought some examples of really low stall speed and true take-off-and-land-everywhere capability

@KnightOfRen When in doubt, add more hidden wings. More lift is probably what you need. Adjust thrust as needed using overload on your engines.

@KnightOfRen Are you trying for a VTOL System, or a standard flight system?
    .
VTOL is actually easier on large spaceships tbh.

Hi! I think I may need help on a build. Its a huge 150k pound spaceship, and it dont fly! Oh yeah, it's shaped like a fist, which probably only worsens flight capabilities. @spefyjerbf

@PETG Sounds good. The line of code shouldn’t be too hard for me to craft. One last question: with what frequency does the magnet turn off and on? In other words, how long does it stay off (or on) before it alternates?

    3.8 years ago
  • Profile image

@spefyjerbf Basically when fuel is below 10% the magnet keeps turning on and off, but above 10% it stays off

@PETG Do you want it to alternate indefinitely? Or do you want it to alternate when you use an activation group. In other words, should the magnet activate over-and-over when you press an activation group, or should it unconditionally alternate betweeen 1 and 0?

    3.8 years ago

@spefyjerbf Is there a way to make a value in funky trees go back and forth between 1 and 0 so it would activate the object over and over? Specifically for a magnet.

I also already have the system to activate it, I just need a piece of code that will alternate between on and off
