  • Help with Flaps 3.8 years ago

I suggest using wings with controls (or rigged up to rotators) that align with your flap controls (say they're both controlled by the VTOL slider input for example) then scale them down and embed them in the wing/fuselage so they're hidden and out of sight. Scaling doesn't effect the lift they generate, so when in operation, you should still see a substantial increase in lift (depending on the initial wing/control surface size).
    .
One thing to note is that flaps generally increase the drag of an aircraft, so you might want to hide some airbrakes away (again so they're out of sight) that operate with the flaps.

The origins of the J-20 can be traced back to 1971 with the J-9 project. No physical aircraft came from the program, but a notable development from it was a twin engine canard delta wind tunnel model that does have a striking resemblance to the the J-20 design.

  • Engine Types: Part 4 (Vectoring Thrust) 4.7 years ago

@Mmdben for example, take the V-280, the engines on that stay static in comparison to the rotors. Fuel doesn't need to reach the rotors and thus very little if any change to the fuel system is needed.
    .
However, I appreciate it's a pretty new design and is radically different in approach to the V-22 Osprey, where the engines also rotate. I can perhaps see the need to an additional pump or two as well as perhaps some modification to the fuel lines to allow for rotation. But it's a far cry from having to modify an engine fuel system by either pressurising the fuel tanks or adding additional fuel lines/valves to prevent air being drawn into the system while the wing is rotating.

  • why is my game restarting so many times 4.7 years ago

I don't think the game is causing the crashing if it's causing your computer to restart. I suggest checking to see if all your drivers are updated and probably do a virus scan just to be on the safe side.
    .
It could however be a whole host of problems. From a failing HDD to an OS error. Unfortunately, I can't really help much more than that. If you want peace of mind that it's not the game, try reinstalling it or alternatively use the contact link at the bottom of the page.

@Chancey21 Fuel injection is basically the digital equivalent of a carburettor. The carburettor uses mechanical components (pressure, flotation, etc) to create the fuel/air mixture. Fuel injection on the other hand uses a fuel pump and various sensors to establish the appropriate amount of air to mix with fuel.

@HarryBen47 Don't worry, I still have ideas for more informative articles. I have plans to cover gas turbines in more detail, as well as configurations, etc. Aerospace has a lot of aspects to it and while I don't think I'll cover them all, I'll try to cover the important things regarding aircraft design since it's appropriate for the site/game.
    .
If you (or anyone else reading this for that matter) has something they'd like to see me cover, feel free to suggest it and at the very least, I'll cover it in an article or (if it's a large enough topic) dedicate a post to it.

@WarHawk95 I wasn't lying when I said they were an underrated band. I listen to a lot of Glam/Hair Metal bands like Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Poison, etc. and those guys put most of the original 80's bands to shame.

My favourite song at the moment is Silent Thunder by Crazy Lixx It's about aircraft and honestly, it's probably the most underrated song/band in the world. If you're into Bon Jovi and the song "Highway to the Danger Zone" or just 80's music in general, you'll love this.
    .
Ironically, that song came out this year contrary to it's sound. Also, The music video is pretty awesome too lots of planes and blowing things up.

@TheFantasticTyphoon purchase has been declined due to the Apocalypse class sub being a highly classified technology with trade restrictions meaning purchase is only possible with close allies. I personally wouldn't worry too much about it at the moment. I haven't (nor have the other mods) been instructed to do anything regarding users in the EU. Probably just as well given I currently live in a country that's part of the EU. But if anything is to change, I imagine myself or one of the devs/mods will let everyone know. But rest assured that as of this moment, we're not dishing out bans for EU members.

  • Steam Map Mod Request 5.5 years ago

Not going to lie, as someone that's in the process of slowly building a map mod (with many other map mods made), I feel like this would be a very time consuming build for anyone. The models you linked are a little complex and depending on how many different models are needed it could take a while to add all the shaped colliders in order to make it as optimal as possible.
    .
That's not to say it's impossible, but it is a bit of a time consuming task to say the least, so don't be surprised if nobody implements that.
