F-XIII (Silent Thunder)

Mod Squirrel  4.7 years ago

WARNING

Crazy Lixx – Silent Thunder must be played upon first flight. Aside from making it more fun to blow up stuff, it’s the song that primarily inspired me to make this plane - Hence the name.

The F-XIII is a fictional 5th generation air superiority fighter. But while primarily designed to attack air targets, it does have multirole capability. Also, this is probably the only aircraft on SimplePlanes to have a working APU. It doesn’t do much… just turns everything off when you turn it off. #makeAPUsgreatagain

Complete with 4 weapon bays, 2 for air to ground ordinance and 2 for ground to air… assuming you’re on the ground and somehow haven’t blown yourself up by launching the weapons inside.

Gun also has a neat little mechanical aspect to it too and constantly flags up damage messages when fired. But, don’t worry, the only thing being damaged is either the enemy aircraft or your sanity.

Also, the F-XIII is one of the few fighter jets with in-flight reverse thrust which is controlled via pitch input so you can pull off some cool moves before faceplanting into the nearest hillside. Said faceplanting can however be avoided by activating the 3D “thrust vectoring” which may or may not make your problems worse if you throw it around too much.

In all seriousness though, this is my favourite build that I’ve made. I has a lot, does a lot and does it in style, which is not something I wouldn't normally say about my builds. But I do feel like I went the extra mile with my building skills (or lack of) on this.

Controls

  • Activator 1 – Afterburner
  • Activator 2 – 3D Thrust Vectoring (recommended ~35% throttle)
  • Activator 3 – Thrust Reversers
  • Activator 4 – Air to Air Weapons
  • Activator 5 – Air to Ground Weapons
  • Activator 6 – Lights
  • Activator 7 – Gun
  • Activator 8 – APU
  • VTOL – Flaps
  • Trim – No idea
  • 768+ MPH – Ultraburner (speed boost)

Definitely not part of a back-to-back moderator upload.

@Destiny2020 because it's not a replica, I'm tempted to say no. However, if you replace the swastikas with an iron cross instead, you should be fine to upload it.

@Squirrel I want to know, I created a World War II background, but never appeared before. If there is a Nazi logo on it, will it be illegal

@Dinoairplanes I haven't got plans for a new one anytime soon. Lacking the motivation to get one finished. I made a few ones to test out some unity tools, but I never got them to a state where I could release them.

@Shippy456 Thank you. I'm an aerospace engineer, so I like to keep my designs familiar and base them on stuff you find in the industry.

This is amazing! How did you get the gun to not show the “multiple parts damaged” message? I also love the control surface setup, might use a similar arrangement on my next fighter
