@ThomasRoderick yeah its the same cockpit as the vagabond, this arrangement was common of the era vixen, canberra BI etc. Used by radar operator/ navigator etc

@ThePilotDude I'll admit to sort of cheating on this one, I used the fus, wing and tail from seperate previous builds then just added the rest :) I find building relaxing so usually get an hour or so a night in as well. Thanks for the votes, anything you want to see in the future? (I have a biiig flying wing, a push pull and a meteor alternative in the works so far)

  • Mobile Friendly? 6.4 years ago

Every time I build something of late i get asked for a mobile friendly version, now as most of my parts come from camo or hollow fuselage etc it's pretty difficult to remove all of that and keep the look just to make it more friendly. I'm all for smaller part count to help mobile users but I enjoy building details... just my thoughts on the matter

  • Nudging tool tutorial 6.4 years ago

Do you mean overload? If so there's really not much to it, click the bit you want and then change the value of nudge to what you want and click the button until you are happy. 1 game measurement is 0.5 on the nudge scale.

  • Dehavilland Vagabond II 2.4 6.4 years ago

@Tang0five @xXRaindropXx thanks guys, i was just doodling at work (dont tell the boss) and drew something with booms but they where too far apart to connect like a vampire so i added some small tail units which got me thinking the booms where weak and likely to bend, hence the concept of doing it intentionally. As with all good ideas it was then cemented in my mind as the virgin space launch happened where the little plane has variable geometry booms... =)

  • Landing tail draggers 6.4 years ago

My last biplane was a tail dragger, first one I've made where the brakes didn't cause nose to go down, it's all about control balance, if brakes are too powerful adjust them so the arnt :)

@BlitzBombers just your strange comment, normally it's considered polite when critiquing designs to add detail of what you feel could have been improved rather than just post some childish statement.

@ASDFASDF1 in confused, I've just tested it and from wright to krakabloa I've used 20%, challenge is for something to fly wright to snowstone which this is easily capable of. Actually just got to snowstone and I'm on 60% so have enough fuel to get back... not short ranged at all

  • Amerika B. Escort Chall Me 165A 2.1 6.5 years ago

@Rhinower7aeronautics thanks, in regard to speed this quotes the arado speed at 530mph, now mine doesn't do 800mph. I aimed at 560-600. Ground operations are limited, same as the me163 which only had a skid, you can taxy around carefully using the yaw of the rudders but this wasn't ever a consideration as in real life a tractor would be used to get them lined up and removed after operations (no different to natters, komet etc). With regards to landing i didn't design it for rough landing as I didn't see that as part of the brief, I would have just had a skid if the game had life like frictional characteristics. With regards to water landing, I don't think thrust reversal is very 1940s, again if the game had better friction with the ground / water a long run wouldn't happen but I wasn't comfortable cheating it for what was after all a simple build and a secondary "perk". Just my take on those comments. Thanks again.

  • I Need Help! 6.5 years ago

try this, you had fuel in the wings which never helps, it also had an uneven number of windows and a door only on one side and drag / mass enabled on everything, ive disabled the drag and mass on all the windows (barring one on the left, which helps with the autoroll for some reason).

@Tang0five well, as it so happens, this came off one build and is used on another that I have not yet posted. Sorry about the lack of description in regards to exactly what weapon it was, I built this from 2 pictures I hàd, neither of which had any details.

  • Adlersteiner ger chal entry2 Halfte Weltschmerz 6.5 years ago

@Type2volkswagen yeah i spent ages making sure drag was even and low(ish) i played with adding upthrust to the engines but the angles where getting silly, i could have angled the whole duct but again it looked daft,i can counter at one speed with elevator tweaks but then when its gliding it has too much pitch up, i thought about adding a small jet to push down gently on the back activated by throttle but again it was more trouble than it was worth.

  • How do you build a stable aircraft 6.5 years ago

It's relatively easy, get the red line to be slightly in front of the blue line. Keep control surfaces as small as practical, put wheels where they are on real planes and not stupidly far back, keep wings an tail plane sizes proportional. If you want build something and tag me and I'll show you where you are going wrong
