    Wow.
    Instruments are amazing.
Post stall maneuver handled so well in this plane but it leaves yaw-heavy-maneuver to be desire especially in tailless configuration where no innate yaw stability present.
But hey... who am I to complain lol, it handle so well as it is.

I've heard the story that Soviet scientists and/or mechanics drank rocket fuel. (or some coolant of sort)
Because that stuff in question was pure ethanol so....
But don't you dare drink rubbing alcohol, yes it's ethanol but they added some chemical to deter us from drinking it.

I think this plane flight model is good.
But yaw rate need more tuning, I saw you use YawRate*0.05 in code, nothing wrong but the value could be lower because the tvc oscillating due to too much control correction.
I suggest you use YawRate/xx instead, it produce same result but the number is more intuitive, YawRate/40 is really mean if the plane yaw at 40 deg/sec the entire (YawRate/40) will be equal 1 which will cancel out the Yaw input and the plane will be limited to roughly 40 deg/sec rate.
For comparison, YawRate*0.05 is YawRate/20 which is too sensitive and that's why it oscillate non-stop.
    Same goes for all axis.

Making FT flight control is not easy indeed so that's why FT flight control system is so special and a rare breed of SP builder.
    Good luck.

  • F-300-A3 StarHawk 2.3 years ago

    @SkyJayTheFirst
I think your performance range is too wide so you need to work extra lol.
    But that's possible, with time.
For yaw, that surprised me for a sec but through the process of elimination, it is just common mistake.
The plane shaking sideway at first look like the yaw rate is too sensitive for an inexperience eye but it is actually not, yaw rate normally is not above 30 and the multiplier behind yaw rate is just 0.002 so yaw rate is definitely not too sensitive so it is not sensitivity problem.
So (YawRate0.002) is out of the question, only thing left is "+" in Yaw + YawRate0.002.
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    Conclusion, yaw rate is inverted.

Afterburner is so cool, not to mention the technique on the nozzle, wing bending, so much to learn from this.

  • About Flaps and Slats 2.3 years ago

There is an interesting case of BF-109's spring loaded slats, when rolling left the left slat deployed but only when the plane is pitching up, it's because of the left wing experience high aoa due to combination of airflow from the front and from the wing moving downward.
idk about SU-27, maybe slats are unnecessary for roll because the main purpose of slats are to prevent wing from stall due to high angle of attack.

This fly like my plane pre-Funky-tree lol.
This plane is a perfect candidate for FT and PSM flight model, it can go PSM easily at low speed with a little bit of help from tvc.
I think this plane could be made more unstable to go PSM easier, just right on the edge of uncontrollable or you can go full blown unstable plane if the FT is right.
Conclusion : This thing really need FT code.

    @One2
True, it is just an upscaled VTOL thrust port exhaust so it'll not look as good as custom afterburner.
F-22 afterburner do look thick messy in night time though and I like the look of it so I make it this way rather than in daylight where afterburner is drowned in the sunlight.
But yeah, I already changed the size so it'll not as thick in the final build.
    Also, one T for you.

  • Idk how many people have suggested this but 2.7 years ago

I'm not sure if this is what you looking for but I you have throttle and propeller pitch assign to separate control by setting pitch control to manual and then set throttle governor to disable in prop menu, throttle control engine power and VTOL control propeller pitch by default.
From there I can get my prop to overspeed and eventually break by simply going max throttle and 0 degrees pitch.
Or I can go max propeller pitch and full throttle at low rpm and the prop can't get rpm due to too much drag, it need to rev up the rpm to get the momentum going.
Same goes to heli blades as well.
    .
    .
Or am I just miss your point completely lol.

I have a quick fix for Cobra for you.
    - I changed main wing airfoil to "flat-bottom" because it have the best stall characteristic.
    - I increase speed of all elevator rotator to 50%.
    - I increase range of motion of elevator pitch rotator to 25%.
    - I increase drag scale of elevator to 3, it'll help in recovering from cobra and preventing the plane from flipping, you can increase drag further if you like.

Doing that all, your plane will able to perform sexy Cobra I guarantee.

Ps. It lost some stability in the process but AG3 surely helps a lot.

Clearly you incorporated many building technique from previous Pixy's planes in "Ace Combat" tag which is nice.
I suggest you to not follow those technique blindly, some technique works only with a certain build.
But I have to say that the model was nice albeit too big.
Also, CoM is too low relative to thrust so it will always violently pitch down.
