The issue is that it’s an SP render, which rarely look good. I’d suggest doing some major Reshade. Alternatively, consider giving all the paint 100% emission and taking the screenshot at night - it’ll be entirely flat colours.

@TheLoadingGorilla SquiddyPlays downloaded it (and did a terrible job flying it) over nine years ago. I encountered his few Let’s Plays of SP by chance, which is how I learned about this game. Didn’t really watch his stuff, just happened to encounter this weird game through him.
That said... how big is a 3D model? File size, I mean. SP XML files can be a few kilobytes AFAIK, thus why decals are local only (I mean, small ones probably wouldn't hurt too bad, but they'd have to be so small the Devs just didn't bother). Would a 3D model be too large to be practical for the site to handle?
That said... if a model could only be used if it were on SP.com, perhaps that could work. After all, any model used (online at least) would've been submitted so it could be moderated.
The question would then be where the Moderators would draw the line. Hopefully in a place where I hypothetically wouldn't have to put up with a lobby full of anime girls with highly exaggerated proportions.

My visual criticisms are the wings not lining up. Also, P-38s don't use radial engines. Reusing big parts of the example craft will deduct a few points for not being entirely original work, but not that much.
Otherwise great work. I'll have to take a closer look later to judge the shaping and whatnot.
