    @Leviatham
    is it allowed to request a build of a fictitious plane?

    Yes, granted that there is a tangible replica of it, an orthographic view of it on all three sides, or a very thourough, explicit, and detailed description and measurements of it if an orthographic view is unavailable or is nonexistent both on Historical, or Fictional (Treasure Planet and whatnot).

  • Olyoma - Thunder Bay 3.4 years ago

    @EnzoDiaz
    how is the size?

    Storage wise, about 60mb. map wise, for me at least, its huge. It could eclipse the entire map of Simpleplanes Vanilla I think...

    i think adding an road would be a grat idea because the road in yeager was really bad and i wanna try to drive from voshkod to rocky urals (please respond)

    It was planned to have road systems in this map but roads in unity are in splines and splines aren't really my strong suit. It's actually one of the reasons why my other map is skewed into bug-land.

    I mean, traversing the terrain from Voskhod to Rocky Urals is possible albeit requires offroad wheels.

  • Olyoma - Thunder Bay 3.4 years ago

    @TirpitzWantsPlanes yeah the lag is surreal in Olyoma, however I still have to learn to do LOD so it could lag less. Though lag decreases when shadows are off as far as I know. I apologise for that. But if you are asking to turn off lights in the city to increase device performance, it had no impact during alpha tests whether it was on or off. sorry...

  • Olyoma - Thunder Bay 3.4 years ago

    @SyntheticL Your guesses are really close! however I am sorry but it must be a full name including the variant letter or dash series ie Tu-104B or 757-200, otherwise it will be counted wrong, omission of manufacturer/ designer is permissible. I'll update the rules, sorry.

  • Olyoma - Thunder Bay 3.4 years ago

    A guide for people participating in the PLANESPOTTING CHALLENGE!.
    Not necessarily in this exact fashion, but more or less similarly readable.
    List your build and livery request first, then list all your identifications of the ten new planes by their full name.

    (ie. Boeing 717-200 or Tupolev Tu-104B, omission of manufacturer/ designer is permissible)
    For example:

      I am participating in the challenge
      My Build and Livery Request is
      -Nakajima B5N
      -USN livery

      The ten planes are:
      -De Havilland DH.106 Comet 4B
      -Lockheed L-1011-200
      -Saab 340B
      -Handley Page Halifax Mk.III
      -COMAC C919
      -Boeing 737
      -Rockwell B-1B
      -Airbus A320Neo
      -Vickers VC10
      -Ford Tri Motor
      -Blohm and Voss BV238 V

    @x3Harrion No I meant a consent from me, I am fine with people copying my planes so long they ask for consent from me and I give consent and I will ask for credit depending on what is copied. To which in this case I never gave out any consents, nor anyone asked me for one, nor will I allow no credit of a copy of this calibre. Anyways, just do not copy, it'll save you loads of bureaucracy.

  • Boeing 737-800 WestJet 3.5 years ago

    @x3Harrion
    Hey, forgive us for grilling you earlier, sorry about that, plagiarism isn't really condoned in this community often when sighted. But I will forgive you this one time how ever you copied, either from me, or from your friend. Oh and I see you are new player, welcome to Simpleplanes, sorry that the rules are a bit blurry, however the general consensus is to not copy, however for my planes; Plagiarism Bad unless with consent.

    We are looking forward to see your unique builds.

  • Boeing 737-800 WestJet 3.5 years ago

  • Boeing 737-800 WestJet 3.5 years ago

    @x3Harrion even if it did came from your friend, you are still at fault for failure to credit, me or them otherwise. You owned up to this build and said its yours even without a single mention of me, or them.

    I really liked it however I was finding it hard to pitch up

    Well by design, airliners were never meant to have the maneuverability of a fighter jet, so it'll take a longer run in the runway to takeoff, and the inherent inability to climb vertically. If it is feeling too hard to pitch up, I suggest to set trim at -1/2 Setting.

    How many hours do you play man?
    Also here’s a “complaint” i’ve had for quite long... next time plz make the cockpit interior ACCURATE to the real thing

    About an hour because of a more refined building process, using bigger and less parts, and whatnot. My dude, the cockpit functions, if I cater to your standards, my phone, and eventually my laptop would explode. 500 parts for a cockpit is too much for me, let alone 4000 just for the panel, console, and seats. But I’ll see into it and tag you then.

  • How do I properly build aircraft 3.8 years ago

    There is really no proper or improper way to build an aircraft, there is only what works and what does not work. The difference being that "Proper" implies that there is a golden standard for every builder to follow, which severely lacks in this community, which is a great thing because it can incorporate many building methods and philosophy for each users without arbitrary penalties.

    However let's go back to what I meant with 'what works/ doesn't work'. "So what does it mean?" as someone asked. Well it means that regardless of the level of detail and parts put into it, if it lacks functionality, and/or not a lot of people enjoy it due to part count or lack of uniqueness, it does not work. So what works in this case? Well as of now, anything adequately detailed but still is less than 800 parts (or 400 parts if possible) will work, it can work better or worse if its what the community has not seen before, depending if it looks exciting or dull. Anything over 800 parts may work better but its a risky strategy since practically about half of mobile users are now cut of from it due to high part counts. Meme builds work in wondrous fashion, and you may have even seen the purple truck or the plane covered in airbrakes whose popularity skyrocket.

    Since I am only accustomed to building airliners, I can only offer you two building methods for wings that I know of: Triangulation, and Single Cast. Triangulation is a higher detailed wing assembly method that employs a numerous amount of triangle shaped fuselages to form an accurately shaped flat bottomed airfoil. But consumes a lot of parts. Single Cast only uses a single fuselage scaled up to form a wing section, it uses less parts, but is less accurate shape wise.
    Wing Assemblies are pretty much the only assembly that differs between users and I have two examples of it Triangulation and Single Cast. Fuselages for aircraft does not really change with each user visual wise.

  • Douglas DC-8-71F ATI Air Transport International 3.8 years ago

    @Panizon Well I didn't expect a lot of people to take note of this particular DC-8 since not a lot of people know the DC-8-71F exists let alone the Airliner Air Transport International, accounting for all factors, I have calculated 19 upvotes would be the peak. And yet every dang time, my calculations are wrong.

  • Boeing 757-300 RB211 Icelandair 3.8 years ago

    @Tang0five I think I know the problem, the fuselage parts are too flush with each other, intersecting when the view is too far, maybe try setting the distance farther from each surface, and in cases of lines and stripes required in the livery, have the corners set to hard instead of circular. I do hope this helps.

  • Artificial Horizon (17parts) 3.8 years ago

    Oh this is so amazing! 17 parts is a lot to ask for in this detailed display. But is there a way to stop the glitching in the graphics?

  • How to become popular? 3.8 years ago

    @JCCNtechnologies
    [ommited user] This is going to be hard because I play on android. it will lag out my phone. Th most parts I had so far is 590 which is my build I. TA.W.S V2. but thank you.

    Well lucky for you, popularity does not always come down to how many parts can you shove in a build, in fact high part count builds does not always equal high popularity points, rather a combination of how well the plane is built, how its presented, would the community enjoy it, how many features it has, and how viable the part count is.

    All of the planes I have built for Simpleplanes (apart for 747-146, and An225) are all below the 800 part count and performing fine, it does not even have to reach 800 parts to be popular, I built a Fw189 while I'm still a silver player and it got massive recognition from users. and its only 396 parts. And a word of advice, always think about the mobile users, making a high part count may give you a slight praise from PC/Mac users, but you are cutting off a large playerbase in simpleplanes, if you really want to be popular, think if a mobile user could realistically enjoy it. And now unfortunately, unless you can still somehow download the 1.8 version of Simpleplanes on android, presentation will be limited to a black background and in a website where the most viable way to pop out from others is utilising a custom screenshot, it may be your achilles heel. Presentation is key to pop out to the user, show most of the plane and fill the screen up as much as possible while still seeing the whole plane.

    And since interior cockpit is pretty much an uncommon sight in builds, having a well detailed, well built, and well cleaned cockpit interior can boost the popularity of your build, even more so if its mobile friendly.

    Now I cannot promise you that following my tips will gratify instant popularity, its exponential, you have to prove to the community your talent in simpleplanes building is worth upvoting for, once the community sees your builds, they may take note of it and might wait to see what you will come up next, its a slow process.

    Now the one thing that can cripple your road to popularity is to do something astronically wrong, such as plagiarising builds and claiming it as yours, calling out players or the community, or ranting against the community. Simpleplanes is much like running a business; provide good, cheap products (in this case, playable vehicles for both PC/Mac and mobile), advertising, and great Public Relations.

    I’m sorry, but also I never teased it other than flying in in MP under a different name, so there’s really no opportunity to tag people. Speaking of tagging, I think it would be rude of me if I tag you on my finished 757-300 while you’re still building yours, it just feels like I’m showing off that I built a 757 faster than you, which is not my type of personality.

    Went back on designer and did try to scale it down. yes it might work and this is how I did it, you don't need to follow only this but it may help:

    What I did is use the Fine tuner mod, multi-select, select cockpit part, multi-edit, scale tool, whatever scale required, unchecked Scale Only Selected Parts, Scale.
