Glass - an 8:1 scale replica

5,668 chibikitsune  3.7 years ago

Hello there! I hope you enjoy this quick neat build, while I finish perfecting my current projects! I hope you like it!
Also, I want to thank everyone on the Jundroo dev team for this amazing update, especially WNP78 for his amazing contribution to making SimplePlanes a better, more awesome place. It's really awesome to think how far this community has come, and I present this as a token of thanks to you all! Have a lovely day!

chibikitsune Presents:

Glass is a transparent block made by smelting Sand in a Furnace.
It was added in Beta 0.0.18a_02 and has been around ever since. It is a key aesthetic construction material and has a place in a wide variety of builds from replica vehicles to skyscrapers. Its texture was changed from the original vanilla texture to an updated one on these dates, varying with platform.

Java Edition:
April 23, 2019 (with 1.14)
Bedrock Edition:
March 19, 2019 (with 1.10.0)
PlayStation 4 Edition:
April 15, 2019 (with 1.90)

  • Sunlight can penetrate through glass, making it useful for buildings such as greenhouses and indoor farms, or for use as a view-port or perhaps an observation platform.

  • Minecraft's rendering often hides glass at a long distance, serving as a useful hiding platform before assaulting a skybase on Minecraft faction servers.

  • It is often used to outline borders on multiplayer servers, especially on Bedrock multiplayer servers that do not have other advanced forms of crowd control.

  • As of the Minecraft 1.8 Beta update, glass can be found as a naturally occurring block in villages.

  • Glass blocks adjacent to each other are invisible when viewed through glass, like they are in SimplePlanes.

  • Snow does not accumulate on glass blocks, so they are useful in cold biomes, where a player does not want snowy surfaces. Like some other blocks, such as Sea lanterns, stained glass, mycelium and Podzol, a tool with the silk touch enchantment is required to collect a glass block without breaking it; otherwise, it will drop nothing.

  • Make sure to not accidentally waste your silk touch tools and keep them at home or in an ender chest when exploring or gathering resources.

  • Mobs cannot see through glass, so if you are making a monster farm out of a dungeon monster spawner, you can use glass to check on it every now and again before you start xp farming.

    • This may also be a good way to keep wolves away from sheep, but I have yet to test this.

How to obtain:

  • (You could also break naturally occurring glass with a Silk touch Pickaxe, but this is usually extremely rare.)

Side note: Some of these recipes may contain some from the Education Edition.

Hello! Thanks for stopping by!

I hope you liked this small build of mine!
Feel free to tell me what you think, and perhaps what you think I should attempt at building next.

And as always, stay safe and have a great day!

Many thanks to OneTwo, and Mobius1ISAF for their amazing build contributions in the thumbnails! I'll put a link to the planes from the visuals in the description here.

Yuki Aerobatics team definitely liked the flypast for this build. The stunts did look pretty daunting, though.

You ever just get that feeling when you are building your first proper house in a survival world and have exactly the amount of glass you need, but halfway through the build you accidentally misplace one block

one block

back to the furnace it is

Great build! Also, what are those brown and white bottles used in the glass recipe? I have never seen them before in the game, and the way you used them is confusing to me. Care to elaborate? Edit: nvm I looked it up and it was something on education edition, Of course I’ve never seen it :/
