I’m going to be straight up honest here, sometimes you’ve just gotta toughen up and move on. If you care so much about the attention of your builds then maybe you should reconsider your priorities. I’ve experienced situations were I have builds that end up with less attention than others even though I put more work into them. Does that stop me though? No. In fact it makes me want to find better ways to build, it makes me build better and better. And instead of whinging about it, why don’t you find a solution to your “problem”? There’s no point complaining if you ain’t got some sort of fix for it. As of lately, the community’s lost a bit of that casual vibe it once had, nowadays there a far too many people who care about the number of upvotes on their builds. Just my two cents.
Honestly you’d be better off just telling us. Like others have said, nobody wants to sit there for ages with the chance that something might happen. Even then, having this thing running for around 15mins, I haven’t noticed anything interesting. Is it meant to change direction or what?
I wouldn’t call it a dark age, if anything were seeing some of the best builds this sites has ever seen. The overall build quality has increased substantially.
Some mods don’t have a steam workshop page. To get those mods first download the file from the website.
Then go to :
~/Library/Application Support/unity.Jundroo.SimplePlanes
In there, create a folder named Mods for which you can put the mod file into.
I know it’s the windshield wiper, it’s very nice btw, its just I was reading your thing and it says VTOL UP is luggage compartment/luggage movement restrictor?
@Winstonlharambe
I managed to download this and it runs quite well, better than some other crafts with lower part count. Anyways I decided to fly/test it. I see the door you talk about has increased drag, but at the speed this plane flies at it barely effects flight performance, I don’t see why (other than game issues) it shouldn’t just be on AG2. I’m not 100% certain on the flight chracteristics of this plane, but I’ve noticed that yaw stability is quite unstable, there’s lots of slip when in a roll and it’s hard to counter without yaw. Couldn’t get the engine on fire, not sure how that works (flew nose down from 20000ft at speeds excess of 500mph), although that might just be my incompetence. Not really sure what VTOL up does, all I saw was a block rotating on a rotator in the fuselage. Take off speed is closer to 100mph, 80 is slightly low. A useful tip for improving performance is to disable drag calculations (via xml/overload) on detail parts (e.g. Your corrugated fuselage pieces). Cosmetically, the fuselage is very nice, very well made, probably some of the best craftsmanship on the site. The wings however are messy and could do with improvements, specially towards the tips where the panelling geometry isn’t perfect and the airelon trailing edges are flat not sharp. Getting the wings right is much harder than you would think, it helps to preplan that stuff. Overall, it is a stunning build, it looks amazing and flies well, but there’s lots to improve on. I would be careful calling it perfect, nothing is ever perfect, there’s always something that could be improved. However, for the rank that you are, you certainly have more potential than many of us and given some time, you might become one of the best builders on the site.
Soz for the slab of text
@Winstonlharambe
You could’ve set the Luggage doors to AG2 only, then you free up the TRIM for actual trim. No need to use the trim slider if stuff is meant to simply open or close.
@Winstonlharambe
Looks good, shame I cannot test it properly due to the number of parts. I’m surprised you didn’t have Bogan as a predecessor, seems he’ll get 0 points out of this...
Yeah, I know your nozzles don’t effect the thrust in SP, but you should consider reversing the action because it’s more realistic that way.
@ACEPILOT109
Huh, I’ve been having this problem too. I tried to download something from the website but it just said my internet wasn’t working, but clearly it was cause the SP site was loading
Yeah, a lot of the functional parts (rotators, pistons ect.) are very flimsy when under heavy loads. Like you could totally make LG that retracts via a piston, but then it 1.) cannot hold its own weight and 2.) will pop out under high g turns or something
@randomusername
Have you tried typing
~/Library/Application Support/unity.Jundroo.SimplePlanes
into go to folder?
I remember I had a lot of trouble getting it to work but I don’t remember what I had trouble with exactly
@Winstonlharambe
Yeah I spent a good day or two just trying to see what worked, realising that something was really off and the redoing the entire area again :/
@LegnaK
Nice stuff, I’m currently build one of these too! The area rear of the engines is hella difficult, tons of concave shapes and super hard to get right. You’ve done a pretty nice rendition though.
Hahaha, he’s already shown his dislike of me wasting parts on the landing door text. I’m surprised he didn’t complain about anything else
@F104Deathtrap
Yeah, after a while I realised that the speeds at the various altitudes were pretty good anyways. Though the climb speed is painfully slow, it kept the top speed of the plane down and extended the runway takeoff length. As for the lagginess, yeah I admit the type on the doors was perhaps overkill, and I was originally going to omit them, but then some people wanted to see them and I hadn’t gone over the 1500 part limit for this craft, so it was kind of a compromise but one that I was willing to make.
@BogdanX

+6That’s another one (probably the MQ-9 Reaper), this one is purely for reconnaissance only
@BossyMr
Not at all, go right ahead

+4Um, I think I would’ve gotten the wing physics wrong if my plane did have a landing speed of 38mph...
@randomusername
Brilliant challenge overall. I was forced to build something a bit different from usual but really enjoyed it nonetheless. Thank you for hosting it!
Have you tried pressing the fn button + f12?
Not everything you build gets good reception. Play the game for fun and not for upvotes or whatever.
+9Press “Shift+Command+G”. Then paste the thing below in there
Type this:
~/Library/Application Support/unity.Jundroo.SimplePlanes
into Go To Folder and see if that works
@Spacedoge12345plane
No, I disagree with all of that. Every aspect of that is wrong. People build for the passion of building, not for the money.
+13No worries, just making sure others don’t spend ages trying to figure it out

I think he means off the featured creations @EternalDarkness

Yeah, but his not the direct predecessor, so he doesn’t get anything :(

+1@ACEPILOT109
Nah, they expand to let the an increased amount of exhaust through, you can read more about it on wiki.
@ACEPILOT109
Nice plane, but IIRC I’m pretty sure afterburners make the nozzles expand not contract
+1It’s a reconnaissance drone, not an
+1attack drone
@TitanIncorporated
Yep, looks to be working again for me. Cheers!
@AndrewGarrison
Andrew said that that would be fixed with the server restart tonight, nice bomber by the way!
+1I’m still having issues uploading/downloading on Mac
+1@AndrewGarrison
Huh, I’ve been having this problem too. I tried to download something from the website but it just said my internet wasn’t working, but clearly it was cause the SP site was loading
+1A lot of that stuff will remain a dream forever most likely. Some of it’s just not possible/not happening.
+1No problem

+6@randomusername
I think if you increase the weight on the wheels/rotators, it doesn’t wobble as much.
+1Always enjoy these types of vids!
Have you tried typing

I remember I had a lot of trouble getting it to work but I don’t remember what I had trouble with exactly

You can install mods on a Mac without it being on steam you know. You just need to go

Looks absolutely amazing, you two should be very proud of your creation!
+2Hahaha, he’s already shown his dislike of me wasting parts on the landing door text. I’m surprised he didn’t complain about anything else

Lol, that image is from eBay, you could totally get it if you wanted to

Is very naice, very beautiful thing
+1@DuckMint
Yeah I’d be able to test it if you want
Cannot you press enter/return?

Just leave a line and then type

@SuperSix
Oh, let me fix that real quick
+1@Chancey21
Let me know what you think, I’d like some feedback on this build
@Chancey21
Thanks, glad you liked it
