Description:

This vehicle, known as the Puma, is an 8x8 German armoured reconnaissance car armed with a relatively strong 5 cm main armament. It was introduced into the German army in 1943 and 478 vehicles were built (of all variants).

Variants:
The Sd. Kfz. 234 knows 4 variants.
-Firtst of the Sd. Kfz. 234/1 is an open top replacement for the /2 that is armed with an MG42 and a 20 mm KwK 38 autocannon.
-Second of Sd. Kfz. 234/2 is the variant I built and it houses a closed turret with a 5 cm gun.
-Third is the Sd. Kfz. 234/3, which again goes for an open top design. This time with a 7,5 cm howitzer with restricted horizontal rotation.
-Finally the Sd. Kfz. 234/4 is the same as the previous variant, but upgunned to the infamous 7,5cm Pak 40. This variant is also known as the Pak Puma in pop culture.

Organization:
This vehicle was used in the Panzeraufklärung (armoured reconnaissance) role serving in a dedicated Panzeraufklärungs-Abteilung (armoured recon battalion).
This specific specimen was in the Panzer Lehr (Panzer-Lehr-Division). This division had an armoured regiment (Panzer-Lehr-Regiment 130) with a single armoured recon battalion (Panzeraufklärungs-Lehr-Abteilung 130). This battalion consisted of 5 companies of which the 3rd and the 4th utilized the Sd. Kfz. 234. This specific vehicle is from the 3rd platoon of the 4th company.

Closing words:

So as is evident of the build logs, this project has been in the works for quite some time. I am pretty pleased with the result; it just looks great.

In the future I want to try to add functional and decorative interiors, since the update has opened a lot of possibilities for this. As you might have noticed the controls are very bare on this build, which I don't quite like. I think adding interior will add a lot more dynamic and engaging gameplay.

Currently I don't really have any big projects that aren't on hold.
