The Canadian-born American YouTuber made a name for himself on the video platform uploading experiments and life hacks, picking up a following of over 11 million subscribers on YouTube and almost 2.5 billion views.
A statement on both the King Of Random Instagram and YouTube accounts said Thompson had passed away on Monday night local time.
“Grant had great love and appreciation for his fans,” read the statement.
“We invite you to share your thoughts for Grant and the channel in the comments. Please do a random act of love or kindness today in honor of The King of Random. Grant’s legacy will live on in the channel and the global community he created.”

I actually watch most of Grant's videos back then (like when I was 15). Especially the ones in which he constructed weapons. I was inspired to build weapons myself. He's truly an inspiration of mine and to all. Totally an unexpected news. You will be missed Grant...
