Sorry but I disagree with your vision of cheating. You have your point of view, and I respect it. But i.e. if you put a subassembly that has been XML-modded on your plane because you didn't remember it was modded, for me it's a mistake and not a deliberate choice.
Do you have the 'Overload' mod ? If yes, select your gun, go to the category 'gun', then in the lines type :
1) left damage and right column the amount of damage you want (for example, 100 to one-shot a block)
2) same : right column tracerColor and right one ffffff for example if you want white tracers
(You must type an HEX color code)

Once you saw the SP's ground School and the tips below, I suggest you to use the Overload Mod to modify your builds with the help of XML modding.
Then you can use the Fine Tuner mod to nudge pieces exactly where you want, scale things, etc.
You should also use the DesignerSuite Mod if you want to build replicas from custom blueprints.
And you can also use theX-ray mod if you want to see a part in the middle of your craft, i.e.
And during your "gaming" phases (when you test your plane instead of building it) I recommend you two mods :
- The Multiplayer Mod. You know what it is.
- And the Advanced Targeting mod. Maybe you play War Thunder... Well this mod brings the gun lead reticle, the bomb reticle and more right into SP.
