@Mustang51
I just downloaded Unity today (compatible version from the SP mod wikia) and on my off time I'm gonna learn it and try creating my own maps, and maybe even some missions as I get more experienced.
@Mustang51
I don't mind at all if you use my type of backstory. I'd say this method is fairly unique, (mixing fiction and real world development of your build to create a story) but yea go right ahead. I mean it's just my type of description style, it's not a build so it's not like you need permission from me or anything. By the way, mind if you tag me when you release your current aircraft your working on? (also yea I know what you mean)
For custom mechanical parts like an openable canopy, I usually build the canopy separate and then I grab the canopy assembly by the pistons and attach them in general to the main windshield frame. From there I just nudge the parts until they blend right in. Although sometimes the parts will latch on to other parts preventing the function, and you have to redo the process all over again. I kinda do this as well particularly with flight controls or levers in the cockpit. I attach them to the outer fuselage or even the wing (somewhere thats more open unlike a cramped cockpit full of parts) and then I just nudge them into the cockpit. Works like a charm, but for more complex assemblies like a canopy this method doesn't always work first try. I should give your method a try.
I live in Washington State and I'd say the state tests aren't too bad or too hard, just really boring. I do WAVA K12 online school btw. The teachers/moderators during the test at least from the last time I took the state tests were pretty laid back. They kept reminding us to not stress out over it since it's not graded or anything. Although last year in 9th grade we didn't have to take any state tests, but in 10th grade I'm taking them again. I think science is usually the easiest for me, than it's English (until the end where you usually have to right a short essay), and then math is the worst. Sorry to hear about your tragedy. I think our tests are called the SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium) tests.
@Texasfam04
Your welcome! That makes sense. I can definitely see you rise through the ranks quickly once you switch to PC. Mobile builds aren't always high-detailed due to limitations of the phone or tablet, but your tilt-rotor is incredibly good for being a mobile build. Pretty much stepping into PC-build quality. Thanks for informing me about the early-warning pod. I was thinking it served some sort of avionics/electronics function. There's an early-warning system called Flight Guard for civil airliners as well, but I don't think it's widely used yet. That's awesome you live near an air base. I live in the vicinity of Whidbey NAS where they have EA-18G Growlers and P-3 Orions stationed there. It's pretty rare for me to see the EA-18's but I hear them rocking the skies pretty often. I see the Orions more often since they are easier to spot.
Well thanks for the credit, I appreciate it, but I don't think beacons are that big of a deal to need credit. I'm totally fine though if you dissect my builds and see how I did things. (just saying). Also no problem, I love seeing your build quality improve.
Finally was able to test it out, and all I can say is WOW. Hands down your best build to date. The attention to detail is incredible, especially the interior. I love the GAU-8's mounted inside where all the mechanics ACTUALLY SPIN. The only issue I found was that it tends to yaw to the right when hovering. Other than that it's fantastic.
Oh and if you want a suggestion, a firefighting variant would epic. You could swap the guns for high-powered water cannons!
Great job, you smacked it out of the ball park with this build. Definitely deserve the feature!
@JackTheBestBoss
Thanks, and yes I have noticed that problem. I honestly don't know what it does that. It only does it when it runs on WEP, so I assume one of the VTOL nozzles are slightly off center or something and it rolls the plane slightly. It's not that big of an issue, after all WEP is meant to be a quick boost, realistically not used for long durations, so I'm gonna keep it the way it is.
@Texasfam04
No problem, you deserve it. I love how your getting more and more detailed with your builds and adding more functionality. Keep up the good work!
@Mustang51
Thank you so much for noticing the description and backstory. I don't expect people to read the back story part, I just like to add it in with the build to explain it better. But the back story actually does relate to my real development on the aircraft. For the Storm Petrel, I really did have serious landing gear issues. I had issues because this is my first aircraft that actually has its own custom suspension, and the springs would be prone to collapsing at high taxi speeds (or take-off), and in turn the springs would start to twist at high speeds and made the tires turn twist inward until they snapped off. Although eventually I did found the bug, which was the gear leg structure supporting the spring and tire had it's mass at .1 (to save weight) but that ruined structure strength hence the gear collapses, so I set the mass back to 1 and it wouldn't collapse anymore.
So the backstory is kinda me explaining it's development to a finer detail, except I put a fictional country spin to it. I really should probably do a forum post explaining my fictional country. I also like to make my descriptions before-hand, and it usually takes me 2 days or so to come up with the description, take the right screen shots, videos, edit the images, and turn the videos into gifs.
Sorry for the lengthy response, but again thanks for taking notice! Glad you really enjoy this build
Ha ha I remember this from that Tin Tin comic! This jet is so epic. I loved the part where Captain Haddock saw the wings folding and he thought they were falling off. XD
Well done on this. I already know all of this info, but I do want to learn how to fly seaplanes on FSX this summer. If your up to the challenge, do a tutorial or introduction to floatplanes. If you do it tag me please. Thanks.
When the A-10 and HE-162 have a baby.....
+2Beautiful!
@Texasfam04
No problem!
My favorite plane of all time! Thanks for making this!
Sweet dude! Now they are even better! You are very talented in making custom engines!
@Mustang51
Thanks, and sure.

@jaredgamer
Ha ha I'd definitely take an FAA or any aviation related test anyday over a state test lol.
The best thing I love about K12 particularly WAVA is that the teachers are incredibly nice.

Yea it's way more organized than my current method.

I know lol.
TOTALLY not a WB-57!
Unbelievably realistc! Fantastic job on this beauty!

Oh btw, whats the dome-thing on top of the aircraft? I noticed that on some of your builds. Is it some sort of avionics/antenna housing?
Also, what did I do? (I'm mentioned in the description)

@getorge
Thanks for the upvote!
Neato!
@Sunnyskies
Well it certainly has been getting a lot of downloads and upvotes. Too bad only one spotlight though. It deserves a lot more attention.
I wish I could create a map and some missions. I would love to create some WW2-style missions.

Don't know if you wanted me to tag you or not but you said you were interested in my new fighter when it was released, well here it is.
@Rugpeersdude
Thanks for the upvote!
Very unique and original design, but it doesn't fly that well.
This deserves way more attention.
