E/A-18G Growler

16.3k greasytortle  6.0 years ago
Auto Credit Based on greasytortle's F/A-18E Super Hornet

Derived from the F/A-18F, The E/A-18G Growler is specialized in electronic warfare while keeping the agile airframe of the Super Hornet. The aircraft has no cannon as it's been removed to make room for the electronic systems. This aircraft is fitted with three ALQ-99 Jammers, two wingtip ALQ-218 pods, two disposable fuel tanks, four AIM-120 missiles, and a close range EMP system capable of destroying incoming missiles (Fire guns to activate). The Growler is also fitted with more than enough chaff and flares than you'll ever need. The airframe has been slightly redesigned. from its Super Hornet origin such as the reshaped sawtooth wings and extra antenna receivers. Enjoy electronic warfare at its finest!

Thank you JohnnyBoythePilot for helping me with the EWS pods and EMP

Just what is this EMP? It's totally not guns pointing in all directions with a short range and high damage. It works as a sort of force field where anything that gets inside will be destroyed by electronic malfunctions. It's the closest thing to electronic warfare I could think of to work in SimplePlanes.

Controls
Guns: Fire Active EMP Protection
AG1: Engage Afterburner
AG2: Extend/Retract Tailhook
AG3: Extend/Retract Wings
AG4: Release Fuel Tanks
AG5: Extend/Retract Launchbar Keep retracted for take off and landing
AG6: Extend/Retract Refueling Probe
AG7 Anti-Collision Lights On/Off
AG8 Enable/Disable nose gear turning, Enable/Disable 3 of the 11 Countermeasures
VTOL: Flaps
Trim: Elevation Trim

Okay, thats it. I think I'm done making F-18s for now. Down the line I may build the fictional F/A-181 Black Wasp from Arma III as it's just too cool not to make but I still need to master thrust vectoring for that. If you have any tips I'd love to hear them.

Oh yes your EMP system is way better than mine. The short burst method is definitly better, and less laggy.

@JohnnyBoythePilot Thanks again! I made the EMP a short burst with a longer wait as it got too laggy too fast but it sorta makes sense that there's a cooldown. Glad you enjoyed.

Absolutely stunning! The most realistic electronic warfare jammer I've seen in SP. Your EMP force field-ish is actually much better than mine and more realistic. Great job on this build! Also your welcome, glad I could help!
