Just a little short to show off the IA Raycaster's sprite texture-switching.
I've taken a break since the last update since I was close to burn out but I hope to get a finished product out soon enough. There's still a lot that needs to be done, mostly in game mechanics since graphics are about 80% complete. Thanks for Watching!
This is so cool! I especially like the gear mechanism at the top that lets it supply rotation no matter which angle it's facing, kinda similar to a differential. Really great job!
@Spacepickle3214 Gun sprite(s) will definitely be coming, but I don't plan to add sprite bullets that you can see moving since Doom didn't feature that.
@MrTrolling09 @Tammatt Once I have a finished game that I feel is worthy I'll release it but I'll keep releasing progress updates so you all know how it's coming along!
-Took a long time compared to the rest of development, but sprites are finally integrated into the IA Raycaster! I plan to add more features like animation and sprites being able to move. One step closer to Doom in SP!
-Also gives a tour of an expanded map
-Note: You may notice some walls in the distance looking a bit weird, and that's what an unrendered wall looks like and looks normal once you get closer.
@THEPotatoguy007 Thanks! And what's cool is if you reverse the direction of the gyro while an engine is running you can easily switch it's direction while its running. That feature isn't on this car though
Awesome! Back when I worked on piston engines I got over the issue of not being able to control direction of spin by adding a gyroscope engine as part of it to make it more stable. You can check out my old piston powered car to get an idea of it. Love to see stuff like this on the website good job!
@MrTrolling09 I'll release it when it's complete; there's a lot that goes into this and I don't have a lot of free time but don't worry I'm still working on it. You can join the FT Lab Discord to see development progress I post sometimes
@asteroidbook345 oh I read your comment incorrectly. This won't always automatically center the image in the label, you'll probably want to change the position of the label itself to center wherever on a craft you need it. Also, modifying the label is usually fine to do so it might crash on your device due to hardware limitations
@11qazxc wow, I didn't know you didn't have to include "color" and using <space> is also a good idea, thanks for the input! I might revisit this and make an updated version soon. Rich text is not my strong suit but I'm getting by 😂
This has been my dream in SimplePlanes for years and only now have gotten to the point where I feel in reach, but nevertheless good luck anyone else going for it!
@Nerfaddict That was my first plan, but I couldn't scale the text on a single axis which was a deal breaker for non-textured walls. Next version of this will probably be through the label part though!
@HuskyDynamics01 There is no official rule as far as I know. I did request that people don't do this when they use my software, however as long as the website isn't a ton of people doing this its funny and fine by me. (disclaimer I don't want to imply this is made using my Image Importer software, it appears to be made by another software)
@brentisaac22 Can't promise that it ever will, but if you have a buddy with SimplePlanes on their PC you can ask them to do it for you
+1This is a really cool concept!
This looks great! And awesome job on those cinematic shots

+2@Vladimir1944 Try installing python onto your machine
@11qazxc That's obviously the goal, but it's easier said than done with current game restrictions without making it overly laggy
@Spacepickle3214 I know that some enemies could shoot sprite projectiles, but the player bullet weapons themselves don't show their bullets
@Spacepickle3214 Gun sprite(s) will definitely be coming, but I don't plan to add sprite bullets that you can see moving since Doom didn't feature that.
@goboygo1 Thank you! Definitely is very different from any programming language I've used before lol
@MrTrolling09 @Tammatt Once I have a finished game that I feel is worthy I'll release it but I'll keep releasing progress updates so you all know how it's coming along!
+1@MrGreen Thanks! I'm trying to create a balance haha

Love how you did the display!

+1@XiaoPiao141 It might depending in the pc, but you can lower the resolution of the image in the software to make it run better

@asteroidbook345 can you send me on discord the exact image you're trying to import?
@IICXLVIICDLXXXIIIDCXLVII Yeah it was removed by mods, and I don't really blame them tbh haha. Basically it was a reenactment of this video.
@TheGliderGuy The brickrooms
+3@Zaineman Its getting there XD
+1@Zaineman Wow 328 listed friends! That's dedication right there lol
@Zaineman Thanks! Been a while since I've been reminded of this craft haha
Now including collision detection and much more efficient map building!
@Spacepickle3214 No, they both do very different things, but the code I use the generate them are both written in python.
+1@DatRoadTrainGuy19 haha don't worry this exe just runs a Python script
+1Killer fish from san diego
@LotusCarsSub haha I was actually thinking of trying that after I'm done with Doom

+1@MobileGamer21 I'd like to think Andrew made SP for this exact reason
@Spacepickle3214 That's great, I agree it is awesome to push the limits. Just hope I end up being the one to push it as far as Doom haha
+2This has been my dream in SimplePlanes for years and only now have gotten to the point where I feel in reach, but nevertheless good luck anyone else going for it!
+3@RYMA232Aeronautics Thank you Ryma232Aeronautics
+1@Spacepickle3214 oh man I forgot to get that deal! Oh well I still have it on ps4 XD
@V I know, but the meme has always been to make Doom in SimplePlanes haha. Plus, you can make a very Doom-looking game with just raycasting tech
@teddyone02 Thanks for the info that's good to know
+1@BaconAircraft One day perhaps 😂
+1@CanadianAircraftBuilder @X99STRIKER @iwannabeelected @rexzion @AmazingMaxie Thanks guys!

+3@ReinMcDeer It's only a matter of time before we get Bad Apple in Bad Apple in SimplePlanes
+1@NothingMuch one can dream 😂
+2@Nuget Thanks!
+2@Darkmoon As of right now no, I'd recommend finding a friend with PC who can make one for you
