Artificial Gravity

33.0k IzzyIA  5.7 years ago

Here is my centrifuge. Basically, you spin it and it creates centrifugal force that pulls the car towards the outer part of the circle, simulating gravity. One downside is that you have to have a location already saved that is very high.

Here is a vid of it working:

Here

 How to use:

1: Use the roll stick to start it spinning, and go to camera 2

2: in camera 2, you will see a Gforce meter. The light blue means zero g, and every line below that adds one g. So if you want to simulate earth’s gravity, 1 g, you spin it until the pointer points to one line below the light blue line.

3: once it is spinning as fast as you want it, press action group 1. This will decouple the car. Then go to camera 1 and use the VTOL stick to drive and Yaw to turn.

4: now you are experiencing artificial gravity! Because of stupid Simple Planes physics, the circle gradually slows down over time, so you will have to keep on spinning it periodically in order for it not to slow down.

 To get to the location:

So you can just get a modded engine or something to get high, but make sure you do one thing before you save the location: pause and press “restart here” then save the location. This will stabilize the craft.

P.S. I put a lot of Gforce meters around the craft so it would be easier to check them while driving.

P.P.S. Don’t spin it too fast or else it will literally rip itself apart lol

@IzzyIA it's going to be an epic "Thank you" post when I hit 50k. I will have to top This My absolute favorite thing about this post is people finding their names when they did not expect to. The 50k will be the forth "Thank you banner" post.

But damn this is clever! I'm gonna steal this idea if you don't mind :). Of course I will give you credit if I actually use it in any build!

I don’t use XML modding or any of that, just default game tools, so I couldnt have done that. Plus, rotators have a LOT of torque which might have caused trouble in a low Gforce environment lol @iwannabeelected

@IzzyIA I think a pair of infinite rotators woud have done the trick :) Bu I'm gald you did it this way!

Thanks, I couldn’t use the normal gas engines cause of the lack of air and my piston engines weren’t stable enough for wheels so gyros were my best bet haha @iwannabeelected
