One small update. To make carrier landings easier, set the angle of the tail hook to 45°. Otherwise you need to land an almost perfect 3 pointer to catch the wire.
Cheers! I was really into IL-2 a few years back. Was working with dome guys to get the EE Lightning and the SEPECAT Jaguar into the game. Didnt come to anything, sadly… @Almostbutnotquite
@Tang0five
Howdy. Yeah - its been a while. Hope youre well? Im still pottering around, but the tools here are starting to get a bit beyond my ability… Im just getting to grips with the glass!
Fair point. Something is broken with this model, for some reason. It was built 4 and a bit years ago on an older version of SP - maybe thats the reason? @FireBirdDynamics
Very nice. Funny thing; the one Im working on for this challenge had its beginnings in a float plane. Mid engined, too. You aren’t the guy I see sometimes camping in the bushes outside my house... are you?
Thanks! I built this one first then took it apart to fit a second seat. I usually find that single seaters look better in small fast jets, too. @methirasoysa123
This is the first of a series I have started. Ive gone back to the first models I ever built and updated them. This is the original from many, many years ago... http://www.simpleplanes.com/a/2JKnWV/Viper-II-ASP
Hi! You are most welcome- this is a masterpiece. Im good. The last year has been challenging, with a new job that didnt quite pan out (lets just say that the responsibility / stress / workload vs remuneration ratio was a wee bit off). But, I start a whole new job in October and hopefully some balance can be restored to my life. I will be around here more, too! @ChiChiWerx
Christ! You spotted this old bugger. Thanks! Im quite fond of this one, as it is my only creation to be featured by a YouTuber (Frantic Matty). @Tang0five
The F-15e is the Strike Eagle. The F-15se is a tech demonstrator, the Silent Eagle. Totally different versions. And yes, the Strike Eagle uses both conformal tanks and regular drop tanks. @scfss
Ok. Are we talking about her nosing over on touchdown or is this more of a capsizing of her own accord when starting from the water? Which way does she flip? Nose or tail first? @Megaplanesinc
I think the issue is more with the seat stick interface than the design, matey. After pootling around a wee bit Ive found that if one has more than 65mph ish approach speed and doesnt flare like buggery then a swim is one the cards. But thats quite normal and she is bloody good fun to fly. @Alien
@Alien Ive flown her around a bit and she is fun to cruise around in. I really like the cockpit and the nose mounted «rifle» for tagging and bagging sea life...
If one is not very gentle on landing in the drink, the position of the vertical COG will give her a tendency to nose down on touchdown. Like a great many things in life, by the time it happens its too late, you make a lovely cartwheel and your going for a swim.
Landing on terra firma is as straight forward as can be, however.
Bloody good to see you back!
Very nice. Very very nice. One question; did the original kite have a steering nose wheel? This one doesnt seem to have one. Beautiful crate, old boy! Top job.
Oh only a little. I am now employed in a middle management role by a leading chemists (rhymes with chutes) and it is challenging, in a fun kind of way. Also in a “bugger me I have a lot to do”, way too. FYI, its quarter past midnight here and I just stopped working. I just picked up SP again after a wee break, yesterday, the heli parts are chuffin lovely. Congrats again on making it into the club, old bean! @Tang0five
One wee niggle. It looks like trim acts on the ailerons as well as the elevators. Trim the nose up and she lurches to the left. Nose down, the right. An easy fix, though.
Alien! Bloody good to see you back, old boy! Very nice! I love the obscene anount of wing she has.
Ive not been too active lately either. Got myself a new job and they do not spare the whip, let me tell you... My first time working for a UK employer for a decade or so and the culture change is palpable.
I do find it difficult to judge how much wing to give a model from time to time. You see, I build the whole thing out of fuselage blocks then add scaled wing sections underneath afterwards. There is then no relation between wingspan and lifting surface. @Aeromen

@RAF1 No problem at all - this was fun!

No - This bird really has issues. The nose gear seems to fall off and she spins very easily. Not your fault, mate. @FireBirdDynamics
Fair point. Something is broken with this model, for some reason. It was built 4 and a bit years ago on an older version of SP - maybe thats the reason? @FireBirdDynamics
I KNEW it!!! ;—) @RamboJutter
Very nice. Funny thing; the one Im working on for this challenge had its beginnings in a float plane. Mid engined, too. You aren’t the guy I see sometimes camping in the bushes outside my house... are you?
Hehe. Im now in a different job (Im in the explosives industry now ;-) ) so yes, I have time and a couple of new toys in the works. @Tang0five
Wonderful! Also curved roundels. That is a world of pain right there. Good job!

Bloody lovely! Well made, my dear fellow! I would throw a spot your way, but it appears we have leapfrogged each other again. Soon... :-)

Thanks! @TheDarkAce
Hello there! @otayahiromo8211
Good job, comrade!
Cheers very muchly for the spot, my dear fellow! @Tang0five
Thanks! @Trainzo
Da, comrade. You make the fatherland proud. @ShermanFirefly
It is pretty hectic, truth be told. Two projects in the mix, though. So watch this space! Also: many thanks!!@Tang0five
Wow! Look at you, mr 28.6k! Well deserved and you are too kind! @Tang0five
It was the first thing I noticed, laddie! @Tang0five
Very nice!

Thats weird. I dont get that at all. What physics settings are you on? @Megaplanesinc
Ok. Are we talking about her nosing over on touchdown or is this more of a capsizing of her own accord when starting from the water? Which way does she flip? Nose or tail first? @Megaplanesinc

The description is worth the upvote alone. Simply wonderful, old chap!

Most kind of you, my dear fellow. @Alien
Welcome to the club, old chap!
Chuffin marvelous. Get yourself into the platinim club, pronto!

Very nice kite, this!

True. It has too many guns, too. @RamboJutter
Yeah, she is 37 feet long with a 37 foot span, more or less. I think the pilot model I have isnt to scale... @Jacobdaniel
One word. Thunderfirecougarbird.

Oh, you know... a wink is as good as a nod, what? @Tang0five
It seems like all this guy does is upload «modified» versions of others work. This is just spamming, tbh. @asteroidbook345
Yeah, I saw that too, but why? @JelloAircraftCorporation
Im confused. What have you done here?
Thanks! So much easier than assembling tiny little instruments out of miniature psrts on a 6 inch screen. @Treadmill103
