Handley Page Victor B.1a

Welcome, ladies and gents, to my rendition of the venerable, the graceful, the bloody wonderful Handley Page Victor B.1a.

The Handley Page Victor is a British jet-powered strategic bomber developed and produced by Handley Page during the Cold War. It was the third and final V bomber to be operated by the Royal Air Force (RAF), the other two being the Avro Vulcan and the Vickers Valiant. Entering service in 1958, the Victor was initially developed as part of the United Kingdom's airborne nuclear deterrent, but it was retired from the nuclear mission in 1968, following the discovery of fatigue cracks which had been exacerbated by the RAF's adoption of a low-altitude flight profile to avoid interception, and due to the pending introduction of the Royal Navy's submarine-launched Polaris missiles in 1969.

Please do look at the craft instructions for the details. All her parts should be in the right place, more or less.

For more info - please visit the rather lovely "thunder-and-lightnings.co.uk". They have info on a whole range of RAF cold war jets. It makes for a great resource for model builders or a wonderful way to spend a few hours browsing.

Huzzah!

@Tang0five Ive actually built something for the Star Trek Challenge! Great minds think alike, what? As for being back - agreed on the anime stuff (although I almost finished building the tank from the "drive me closer, I want to hit them with my sword" meme… sorry. But we cant let the kids have the run of the place, can we? Now all we need is the return of our resident Lightning jockey / seat - stick interface Alien and we’re in back in business!

Oh! Before I forget - check out this… (coming soon)…

@GhostHTX There's the Star Trek challenge you handily spotlighted - damn vexing on a mobile as you can't build full scale so have had to compromise to 1/3 scale. There's a nice chopper challenge too (ends april if I remember rightly) which took my fancy as I was away from home and could build 1:1 on my tablet. Glad you have returned old bean - I was getting a little lost with all the anime stuff people come out with these days :)

Marvellous. Bloody marvellous! Incidentally I was at an engine run for XH558 recently and decided to build another Vulcan in similar camo livery. Unfortunately I liked some of the challenges that have come out recently so it’s on the back burner. Great job with this build old boy, I love it!
