This siren is called a federal signal Thunderbolt. This is the early 1950s prototype version. They later became longer and they didn’t have the little metal part on top I call the “hat”. There used to be one in Minneapolis Minnesota. The later variants are called the Thunderbolt 1000, 1000T and 1003. I’ve gotten the chance to see 2 1000Ts and 1 1003 before
I live right next to FCM airport (Minnesota) and I see so many of these planes it’s so annoying. When I listen to the tower frequency (119.150 for all radio nerds) and all I hear is Cessna citation whatever
This plane is probably my favorite on SP. I love the realistic handling and cockpit detail and the ejection feature. I’ve been able to do some crazy things in this plane. I got it to do a flat spin through the bridge (with some encouragement to the plane and like 50 different attempts)
