@Kangy I did try a couple other servers and my experience was generally the same, there were a few with like 4 people and a few with like 8-10. Obviously the 8-10 player one was a little harder to run, but it wasn’t performing great on the 4 player one. Now I’m not sure if that was just me but I do think it’s interesting. I really appreciate the feedback.
@RobertsAeronautics my settings were on low believe it or not, sounds like your MacBook is a little faster than my laptop. You do own what was a $1000 laptop when it came out after all.
I did test a couple cars made for the elliptical grip mod, they handled a little funky but not bad in general.
And yes, the game is hopefully going to improve, but this is a review of the game’s current state so I’m kind of just saying what it feels like to play right now.
I did wonder how much hate I’d get for the Chad diss, seems like you’re the first wave lol
Hey everyone, the video is out now. you can check it out here or on my profile. I didn't spend much time talking about the performance of SP1 crafts, but I did test out all of the vehicles in these links. Only a couple of them made it into the video in my B-roll, but I did fly every single one. In general, all the planes worked exactly as they should. Flight performance was great, all the fancy features such as @SuperSuperTheSylph's custom weapons or @SILVERPANZER's HUD thingies worked exactly as intended. Helicopters worked great too, and all the Funky Trees contraption thingies worked too.
The one thing that did not perform terribly well was cars such as the ones by @LunarEclipseSP. Low-speed vehicles such as their tanks were excellent, but once you get up to like 60 mph they start handling kinda weird. I think it would only take a little tuning to get them working well again, perhaps some remasters are due once the game is out. I appreciate everyone dropping links, like I said I did try everything that people put here and it all worked pretty well with the exception of cars.
This is my review of the SP2 Demo, please feel free to give any feedback or anything. I certainly didn't cover everything but hopefully I did ok.
Also if you could sub to my youtube channel or like the video on yt I would be eternally grateful ;)
Why would you involve variables in this at all?
This is actually a terrible way to do it because it will convolute your code beyond recognition and make it impossible to troubleshoot if you do stuff like this.
@satgat I used to use it on an absolute potato. The better your integrated graphics the better it will work, but if you’re ok with dropping down to like 3 fps you can run it on pretty much anything.
@BigHeadEngineering depends on how you set them up, the CDOF one uses mouse-driven autofocus so it can look a little wonky but generally yes you can certainly play the game with shaders.
@TheMouse I did take it down. Not that I really had to but I decided to be nice. I might give you a link if you contact me on an unlisted or something, I suppose now that the playtest is over it could actually be decently useful for SP1.
I made an app to view and edit the xml of the stock craft more easily but dorian nuked my forum post and "politely requested" that I take down the github repo lol
@Boeing727200F the current map area we have access to is abysmal lol. The runways and racetrack don't even connect to the road which means its a pain in the rear to just get in a car and drive around
@Graingy we'll see. It doesn't take a genius to go in and edit the xml files so all I'm doing is saving a few minutes for the random users (by spending a few hours myself lol). I'm not exactly hacking the game or anything.
Ok so I don’t think you’re stupid but one thing that I would probably do would be accidentally create a new Steam account? It would still show all your games as installed on the device, but will it let you play them? It may have messed up during the name change process and somehow glitched you into making a new account.
Is this allowed to be an edit? Like with music, cinematic gameplay, etc?
Or is it more just supposed to be a compilation of clips and the judging is based on the content of those clips?
@StockPlanesRemastered I just tested limiting my network speed and it didn’t seem to make a difference on an 11 player server so I’m not sure if there really is a correlation then
@StockPlanesRemastered I think this is interesting, I’m a bit hesitant to pin as framerate issues are almost never dependent on network speed. Did you try the game at a different time when no one else was doing anything on your network? I’m not trying to claim you’re wrong or anything but it would be interesting if this was legitimately the issue here so I’m going to try and collect some more data.
Also, could you go into task manager and let me know exactly what CPU you have? So far you seem to have claimed to own a Ryzen i5, which is not a thing and would almost certainly have more numbers/letters as well. Bit like saying you have a Chevy F-150 without even naming a model year or anything.
Has it worked in the past?
You could try deleting the SP2 folder in C:/users/<username>Appdata/LocalLow/Jundroo. It’s a hidden folder so you might have to use Win + R to get there. This deletes the crafts that you have loaded into the game already.
@SimplyElegant you can use a tool like speccy to check, or just use task manager. I appreciate you providing input on how it runs but I’m trying to find a metric on how it runs on different types of hardware and the more datapoints I have the better.
@CatdogAerospace interesting, do you think you could find your specs? Something like speccy is probably easiest but task manager works if you don’t want to download something.
Again, please include your computers model number or a link to the Amazon page, or at least its specs. I am trying to get a general idea of performance on different hardware so I need to collect data.
If you don’t know your specs but want to include them you can use speccy. Please be specific, saying something like “Intel i5” or “Nvidia GPU” could mean dozens or even hundreds of different things without all the little numbers and things. For instance, an i9 14900K and an i9 7900X are two completely different products, one of which performs significantly worse.
@SupremeDorian game runs comfortably on medium settings in singleplayer on the Steam Deck. Once you join multiplayer it can dip into the low 20s even with people using relatively light crafts.
@SuperSuperTheSylph getting kamikazied when you’re trying to take a thumbnail is a canon event

Dude this is awesome! I'll for sure work through it.

+5I feel sometimes it’s the opposite.
20,000 downloads but only like 100 upvotes
@CatdogAerospace some better screen recording software. It should in theory use fewer resources than what’s built in. here’s a link
+1@CatdogAerospace try OBS, might be a little lighter especially if you drop settings a lil bit
Joined 9.9 years ago holee
+1You might have to just tag a curator, they should be able to take care of that for ya assuming it’s vr compatible
@Wiz the graphics can probably be dialed back enough to make it work tbh, just do what they did on SP1 and make it a flat blue plane lol
It actually runs pretty poorly imo, if you go into into single player it’s fine but the second you join MP it gets slow
+1@Graingy Well I’m under 18 so there are some labor laws we have to follow but otherwise I am quite ready for hulk-watching duty
@Graingy erm actually I am a Red Cross certified lifeguard 🤓
Not even joking.
@V It’s spacepickle9772, I haven’t used that app since covid lol
@SupremeDorian dangit
Well, it got removed lol
@V this could maybe be useful for SimpleCheats III purposes if haven’t already made something similar

We got simpleplanes gender war before simpleplanes 2
+3@Solent exactly the comment I was looking for, thank you so much
+1@Graingy have you talked to Steam support? They might be able help you out, they don’t like losing customers.

@LunarEclipseSP I’ll make sure to touch on it.
+1@Zerkk interesting, do you happen to know your specs?
+1@StockPlanesRemastered which i5 do you have? There are a lot of them and they all perform quite differently.
@CatdogAerospace interesting, do you think you could find your specs? Something like speccy is probably easiest but task manager works if you don’t want to download something.
@Boeing727200F @Graingy I know I ran into you on MP, how does the game run? And what are your specs?
+1@LunarEclipseSP what are your specs? If you don’t know the full specs I would also take a model number or an Amazon link or something similar.
Again, please include your computers model number or a link to the Amazon page, or at least its specs. I am trying to get a general idea of performance on different hardware so I need to collect data.

@PlaneFlightX what are your specs?
@StockPlanesRemastered there’s no such thing as an i4 lol, neither intel or amd have made one
