XJ-62 '' Tomahawk''

7,320 Ajforever51  6.3 years ago

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS BELOW PLEASE READ!

The Tomahawk is now my most detailed plane and biggest project so far. it took me about 7 weeks to complete it. The Tomahawk is a light attack fighter inspired by the p-40 and p-51 series of warplanes.
Moving Parts Include:

Trim lever

Throttle lever

Gauges and compass

rudder pedals

Landing gear lever

Brake piston

It also has a aimsight!

Instructions: When taking off DO NOT use full throttle or the plane will tip over and blow you into oblivion. Increase throttle to about 25% and make sure flaps are down. Then once the speed hits about 100-120 MPH gradually increase the speed to full power with flaps down. When landing keep throttle at 10-15 % and use flaps, and make sure the nose is up. When you touch down DO NOT hold the brakes or your propeller will blow you into oblivion. When you are about 2- 3 ft from the ground turn off engine and use light taps on the brake to stop the plane. As always enjoy!
Edit: Whoops where are my manners? Happy holidays and a happy new year to all!

50th upvote! Awesome build man. I love the P-51D Mustang, it is my favourite aircraft. This reminds me of it, so this is now part of my favourite SP aircraft ever list! :D Keep up the good work!

@Ajforever51 it performs pretty well. I don't like takeoff and landing performance (too easy to hit the ground with a prop), but the rest is good. Details are well fitted. Great job.

It kinda inspired more on MiG-3 than on p-51, one more thing, it looks so great!

@EternalDarkness Well I don't try to aim too much for realism but thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.

Hmm, it's a bit out of proportion (canopy too far forward, wings too wide), but still, details land it an upvote (they are amazing). Remind me to test it tomorrow. If I like how it flies, I'll also give a spotlight. Can't test right now.
Looking at it, it reminds me more of a Fairey Firefly than of P-40, due to proportions. Which I like a lot.
