This here is a Toyota 4A-GELU 20 valve "Silvertop", the fourth generation of the 4A-G line of engines produced from 1991 to 1995, being succeeded by the fifth and last generation "Blacktop."
The Silvertop had a completely new cylinder head, now being 5 valves per cylinder.
It uses Toyota's VVT system on the intake cam, however, the VVT device on this build has been removed.
The plenum, replaced with carburettors.
This unit delivers 240ps at 10,200rpm.
This engine has been popularized by the Initial D franchise, being swapped into the protagonist's (Takumi Fujiwara) AE86 Sprinter Trueno GT-Apex after a short battle with an Evo III (Kyouichi Sudou), causing it's engine to catastrophically fail.
