    @Graingy yeah but what’s the fun in that?

  • Complete Autoland 11 months ago

    @CorporalWojak @POTETOZ yep, I used the old wasp. You can’t automate the default gear and I didn’t want to ruin the design by making custom ones.

    @KingOfTypos yeah, unfortunately my device that I build on is pretty weak. I had some projects that had autopilots and interiors, but they didn’t work gain much traction.

    @UssrLENIN I spend a lot of time on stage 7, the landing was very difficult. The best way to guarantee a touchdown is to aim for around 1-2 meters per second descend rate — I could make it buttery but with 50% success rate

    Funky Trees Question: I just noticed that all the cockpit blocks and the flight computer have position / attitude data and a few more points — can’t believe I never thought to check that before. But how come they don’t have ALL the normal flight data like altitude agl and all the target heading/elevation/distance data? Is there a way to access that for the non-primary cockpits?

  • Funky Trees! 11 months ago

    @planeplane1212 it’s “LaunchCountermeasures”

    That’s just going to be on for a moment though so if you wanted to make a light that shows when your flares are still live then that’s another challenge

    @jamesPLANESii thanks! I was about to delete it yesterday bc the aesthetics bother me but yeah I think it’s one of the only working ones!

  • F-35B VTOL system showcase one year ago

    For your swivel nozzle, did you make the bearings circular? Or is the swiveling even made like the real thing on yours? And if it's like real life did you use arcsin or arccos to make the angle linear? I'm getting super into swivel nozzles recently and I'm wondering how yours is being implemented.

    What’s the thumbnail aircraft? It looks really cool, like an F-16 with skinny wings and side inlets

    Looked around your bio and I guess you probably drew it — nice! Still wondering if it’s a real aorcraft

    I wish I could let the rotator spin freely and then make adjustments after that — just like a real bike. You can let go of the handles and it will automatically balance itself, for anyone who’s never rode before haha.

    What I can think of is using a free spin rotator, and then turning it with pistons, except there is also springs on the end of the pistons so it has some degree of freedom. But humans can make it completely rigid still, I’m not sure how to work around this.

  • AN-2 liveries I'm considering (Help me choose!) 1.4 years ago

    ES-BAH looks very cool but seems too fun and bubbly like an aerobatics biplane. But even though I'm a blue over red person, DDR-SKD and OK-HTL are both really cool liveries so my vote goes to 2 and 7. Probably DDR the German one as 1st choice.

  • [CLOSED] Swing Wing Challenge 1.6 years ago

    I always liked swing wings because of how the wingtips look when the wings are out. They want the wingtip to be parallel to the flow when the wing is back, so when the wing is out the tip is at a 45 degree angle like a bird

    This is all the information a general aviation pilot is given when flying ILS or RNAV approaches! A good pilot can fly an approach like this to much higher accuracy than just using their eyes, but it does take some getting used to.

  • Guess The Plane 1.6 years ago

    @OrderlyHippo yeah similar idea, I removed that one bc it wasnt my best work. But this if I finish it will have all the same features.

  • Guess The Plane 1.6 years ago

    @ReinMcDeer @CanadianAircraftBuilder close da42. You can tell the type of plane by their naming scheme: first digit is seat number, second digit is powerplant related(0=single 2=twin).

    da20 = two seats one engine
    da40 = four seats one engine
    da62 = six seat twin

    So since I have two engines(as obvious by the pointy nose) and four seats, this is Diamond Aircraft DA42 Twinstar

    Very close though
