Complete Autoland

38.2k UltraLight  10 months ago

IMPORTANT

Go to ANY place on the map. Hit AG1. Within 10 minutes, you'll be stopped and intact at Wright Airport without doing anything at all (for best results go far away, ie Yeager AFB).

(Built and tested on high physics)

LET ME KNOW IF IT DOESNT WORK

NOT AS IMPORTANT

Two things were not automated!
1) Terrain avoidance.
2) Wheel brakes.
3) Landing gear.

There is no way go see upcoming terrain with funky trees. For this reason, aim away from any large landmasses before starting the autoland sequence(aircraft will climb and maintain 10k feet asap). There is no way to control wheel brakes with funky trees, so you will have to brake manually once you touch down. However, the aircraft does automatically use airbrakes and a drogue chute. Also, landing gear is not automated due to it being default gear. I could’ve added custom but I wanted to focus on the code, not the building for this project.

Featuring
8 phase system
Rate-based climb
Speed and altitude held cruise
Base to final approach path
Straight-in approach path
ILS final approach
Dynamic speed approach
Flare stage
Consistent descent rate touchdown
Perfect centerline touchdown
Automatic centerline nosewheel steering
Fully automatic drogue chute

Stages - debug variable ‘Stage’ to see where you’re at
0 - normal control (no funky trees)
1 - straight and level, get to 400 kts
2 - hold 400 kts, go straight and reach 10k ft
3 - hold 700 kts at 10k ft, navigate to waypoint
4 - descend to 2k ft, 400 kts, nav to waypoint
5 - go to central waypoint, 300 kts, 2k ft
6 - ILS approach, 3* glideslope, speed slowly to 135 kts
7 - hold 135 kts, complete flare and touchdown
8 - deploy drogue, airbrakes, hold centerline

Front page, top aircraft, 100 upvotes! This is my most well received project ever! Thank you so much!

Can you try to transfer the autopilot for some airliner? I think it would be cool if some huge plane could land without human intervention, just like your jet

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Works almost flawlessly! Honestly most fun airplane I've ever downloaded (I've been playing since 2019). Great :+1:

Hello! My name is jad and I would like to know how to make the auto pilot in this plane! I would also like to see how the altitude changer and speed changer work together, if you can just say something to my comment and we could have a private chat!

It would be nice if there was custom landing gear. Could use this for my upcoming project starline

@mbann1112 This happened to me, but I think it was because I didn't have an undercarriage

@UltraLight The bug is "activated" after I take off from the southern end of wright airport as the autolanding system takes me to the northern end( )

@mbann1112 not sure. It’s been happening for a lot of people, but whenever I try to replicate the situation it works perfect for me. Sorry, if I can’t see what’s wrong then idk what to fix haha

it worked really well for the first time, but when I tested it from about 6000ft right above the wright airport, before it reached the runway it worked perfect. But it just flew over the runway without landing at a speed of 155mph,I wondet that whether its a bug or I made a mistake, thanks!

@Bro1001 sorry, it works for me and most people 100% of the time, and others it just doesn’t.

@2Papi2Chulo yeah I can take a look. My device performance isn’t great, but I can point you in the right direction if all else fails

@UltraLight I'm working on an f-18 right now and trying to add an autopilot system for it. Would you mind taking a look at it? Ill give you more details later.

@UssrLENIN yeah but every plane is different. This only works for a plane with the same mass, lift, control authority, rotational inertia, drag, etc as “Wasp(simple)”

@UltraLight Is there one part of the plane that has that system so I could make is a sub assembly?
