@windshifter1 We published a patch yesterday that should have fixed the nuke spam -- make sure the version number on the bottom left says 0.5.4.0.
.
@fffzzension Don't worry, the playable area is only small for the purposes of the demo. In the full game, all of the islands you can see outside of the wall are playable, as well as the whole surrounding sea.
I find the lock times all being the same more annoying. Some missiles are supposed to have long lock times as part of their balancing. Kinda weird to remove that.
What do you mean? The missiles in the stock crafts should all have varying lock times based on type and the target's signature strength. Are you using an SP1 craft? Those would be using the SP1 missiles rather than the SP2 missiles.
There's an update available now in the public beta branch on Steam that addresses the nukes and some stability issues -- if it goes well then it'll be pushed to the regular branch tomorrow morning.
We've seen people asking about whether the game runs on portable PCs such as the Steam Deck, and based on feedback from our playtesters the game does indeed run comfortably on Medium settings on Steam Deck via Proton.
.
In the future we plan to continue making optimizations to hopefully allow the game to run on as many of these devices as possible.
@Emma159 To be clear, 5x better performance is not a blanket statement, just a comparison with one specific craft at a very low framerate on my own hardware. So in many cases it's unlikely you'll see gains quite that high, but in some others you might.
@Lemoncat If it's a gaming laptop it likely has a dedicated GPU, so most likely. If it isn't a gaming laptop it's probably using your CPU's integrated graphics, which is unlikely to yield good results.
@Boeing727200F the world isn't reloaded when you exit to the designer, so any destruction will remain unless you fully back out to the main menu, at which point the world unloads

While we allow photoshoped thumbnails, posts with misleading thumbnails will be removed.
@rimiha any tanks with tracks you see in official promotional material are made in SP1 by the community with hand-made tracks likely using witchcraft. Stock tracks are not in our current plans for SP2, but we're aware of their demand and may look into them sometime after the game is out.
In most nuclear-powered rocket engine designs, any radioactive material at all being in the exhaust is a very bad thing, because they're generally designed such that this doesn't happen so if it is happening you're probably experiencing a nuclear meltdown. There are designs where radioactive material in the exhaust would be intentional, such as the open cycle gas-core NTR -- but as Atomic Rockets very eloquently puts it, that "more or less makes the exhaust plume a weapon of mass destruction".
@Default4 I do various things. Most notably I write the SP2 dev blog posts that have been going up for the past few months, but I'm also the head moderator and I contribute to behind the scenes marketing stuff.
@Timplanes the thumbnail calendar is technically inaccurate because I couldn't figure out how to make the days correct without looking bad and I ran out of time to continue thinking about it

@Graingy I don't mean to stress you out, I suggested compiling them because you seemed worried about spam and that would be a solution to that, but your explanation for not doing so makes sense. Personally I love that people deem this community to be worthy of their art/creative projects, so I don't want to hinder that too much.
@Graingy I guess I just missed the context then, my bad. Though, having a better read on the context, the open statement of disdain for other members of the community (not to mention yourself, right to your face) on CaptainNoble's part is unacceptable on its own.
.
For posting your stories, I don't think the timing really matters. If you ask me I don't see why you couldn't compile several into one post, though. Solves the spam concern and should make it a little easier to navigate.
@Graingy I'm referring to the "I want you to keep pissing them off" comment -- at best it seems to me that it's rather plainly encouraging you to deliberately bother people, which I'd really rather you guys didn't do.
I constantly misread the word "aromatic" as "aromantic", as in somebody not interested in romance, so I would probably think of an aromantic ginger person
This might be related to the craft downloading changes Andrew pushed to the site today, I'll let him know. Thank you.
.
Edit: It's probably unrelated, but I've let him know anyway. This site is held together by hopes, dreams, and some glue. We're trying our best, sorry for the inconvenience.
I'll let it slide here since it's not a big part of the thumbnail, but for the future please don't include elements in the thumbnail that could be mistaken as being part of the craft like the pilot is here.
@Graingy The little dropdown menu on the top right of the site still shows my points rather than the CM badge. I can also just look at my points page. But for the general public there's no way to know the point count of moderators or devs as far as I know, aside from attempting to extrapolate via the users page.
@Graingy The aesthetic quality of the craft is pretty much irrelevant to me when I'm looking through the curation queue, it's mainly based on how usable the craft is in VR, with poor control placement being a common example yes. Other common issues include missing/non-functional controls, missing/non-functional instruments, or certain features intended for immersion on the flatscreen version of the game being included that create a bad experience in VR such as simulated head tilt.
@Graingy multiplayer clips are allowed and encouraged!

@LM0418 pretty much any game with 3D graphics will "support" ReShade whether the developers want it or not

+4@Boeing727200F I can't make any guarantees at this point, but we'd like to run more demos in the future when we have meaningful progress to show
+9@Mrcooldude as in they stop working when they touch the water? not sure, can you submit a bug report please?
oh hey I saw you. I think I had my UI turned off staring into the distance in first person
@363636 we're aware of the nuke spam and we're looking into a solution, sorry about that

+2Stay tuned tomorrow for an announcement on a contest we'll be running 👀
happy new year

@PZLAgencies as Community Manager I am the head moderator, yes.
@Lemoncat If it's a relatively modern Mac with at least 3 GB of VRAM it should work, but we still need to do some more testing on that front.

@SweetSuccubus It should just load with no complications
+1SP2 won't be moving to a new website, content for both games will be hosted here

+10He left a little while ago, just didn't really have time to keep being a moderator. He's making trailers for us instead :)

+1@windshifter1 Limiting the demo to a week for the time being ensures the feedback we get on it won't overwhelm us too much before the game comes out.
+2I work here now
+1@Graingy not really because I won't have to use it again

+4@ArovestaDynamics it'll be removed from your library when the demo ends
+1@Graingy that's me, yes. I write all of these posts.
+4@ThatRandomCouchPotato I remember trying this in SP2 a while back and it seems to work fine
+1@Graingy
They should work as they increase the effective wingspan without affecting lift very much, but that hasn't been rigorously tested.
