OK, I found a fairly serious bug with the inputControllers. According to the update @AndrewGarrison posted,
"Updated the boolean type inputs for input controllers to return -1 or 1 rather than 0 or 1."
But when an engine is dragged from the parts list on to a build, its input min is set to 0 and max to 1. This means that setting invert="true" has no effect, until the min is set to a negative number using Overload or by editing the XML directly. (I.e., min="-0.5" max="0.5" or something similar.)
As a side effect, this has broken all builds that used inverted boolean inputs. For instance, all my "hover-*" builds are broken on 1.7.0.2.
I have to say, I really don't like the new bullets and bomb explosion effects. While the previous bullets were big and bright and scaled up/down with the scale of the gun, the new ones look dull and weak and don't scale at all. The old bomb explosions had a rich, deep colour for both the fireball and the smoke, while the new ones are pale and insubstantial. The fireball looks very two-dimensional, as well.
I for one would rather have the old bullets and explosions back.
@F104Deathtrap I'd prefer foul language to "exciting" (real men don't get excited. Ever) but site rules are site rules. Feel free to use my build style, I'm always curious to see what others come up with.
@F104Deathtrap I'm happy to tackle it, but keep in mind that because SP doesn't allow changing the cross-section of a fuselage block beyond setting the corner type (square, small radius, medium radius, rounded), not every shape can be created using fuselage blocks. I can probably create an approximation of the hull on the P.144.
@BaconRoll Someday, 3d printing will be cheap enough to print an accurate physical model of the design. Wouldn't it be great to have models of your planes made out of smooth polished metal?
To be able to start it on the ground, just add a jet engine pointed downwards along the center of mass line, and set the input to Brake. Set thrust to slightly more than the weight, and you can take off vertically.
@AndrewGarrison Another bug I noticed is that when a ship launches a missile at you, and you evade it and it eventually detonates, the explosion is quite a way off from the missile's position.
@Pilotmario With my hover cannons I've successfully sunk ships from about 15 miles away. From 10-12 miles away I can reliably sink the entire fleet within 10-20 shots.
@Pilotmario I've tried gyroscope-stabilized guns, but they don't work well for me, at least not with a keyboard. What's the longest shot you've pulled off with this kind of gun?
@Pilotmario Even if you reduce mass to near-zero levels, the rotators still aren't stable or precise enough. I'm interested in pinpoint accuracy at over 10 miles, rotators could never provide anywhere near that.
@Pilotmario Because the rotators aren't strong enough or precise enough. That's the whole reason I made my hover cannons. The hover tank is pretty much going to be a hover cannon in tank costume.
@Pilotmario The reason I want to make a hovertank instead of a conventional tank is because the rotators and pistons in SP are a mess, they don't work well at all.
@Pilotmario Excellent. So the turret doesn't need to rotate or elevate the gun, as aiming will be accomplished by maneuvering the entire tank. How does that change the equation?
@Pilotmario True. And if you just make the tank bigger to offset the reduced space, that would make it too heavy. Perhaps I need to make a futuristic hover tank.
@TTHHSSSS Yes, that's a side-effect of the LaunchBoost system. If you noticed, despite being very heavy and having a lot of drag points, it reaches top speed near or at the end of the runway. To avoid the backward-flying phenomenon, just don't cut the throttle instantly -- throttle down.
@BaconRoll Never played Guitar Hero, but ok...
@DarthAbhinav Sure, but it would have to be a pretty big plane to be able to mount this behemoth.
@BaconRoll Overkill is best kill.

@F104Deathtrap No problem, buddy.
Glad you like it, @TheOwlAce. If you need any refinements let me know.
@F104Deathtrap This is about as close as I can get.
@TheOwlAce Shoot it.

@SteadfastContracting You've really been going through my whole portfolio lately, I appreciate it. Thanks.
Glad you like it, @BaconRoll
Thanks, @MAHADI

Yes, I thought the matte-black creates a nice contrast with the chrome. Glad you like it, @Treadmill103 @KSPFSXandSP @Cadillace
@KSPFSXandSP Well, rainbow colors aren't quite my thing (too.. fabulous... for me).
@Sparrow007 I meant the 007 part, as in Commander Bond.

@KSPFSXandSP The very dark red bits, which look black as in the images above. If you have reflections on low or off, it won't appear black.
@Pilotmario I just tried it with my Hovercannon today, got lucky and sank the entire fleet in four shots: http://imgur.com/a/HGF6m

@TTHHSSSS It's a bit like Fine Tuner, it lets you rotate and move a part.

@KSPFSXandSP It's the black that sets it off, right?
@CALVIN232 Show me what shape you need, if it can be done, I'll make it.
@CALVIN232 Nope. Don't really have time to get social, unfortunately.
Part transform: excellent feature, thank you (but it would be great to have a keyboard shortcut to toggle that panel).
Numeric entry for part dimensions: also great.
Incremental damage and smoke particle effects are much better. The new bomb explosion effect is a little old-fashioned, though.
One bug I noticed is that bullet size doesn't scale with gun size any more. Also, could we get an option to disable the muzzle flash on guns?
@KSPFSXandSP That's interesting, what did you dream?
@CALVIN232 Sure, what do you need?
@Pilotmario Because the rotators aren't strong enough or precise enough. That's the whole reason I made my hover cannons. The hover tank is pretty much going to be a hover cannon in tank costume.

@FGW2014 300+ tons, this one's a behemoth. Looks pure evil, nice work. Here's the flight-capable version.
Wouldn't it be better with sloped front and sides?
Thanks for the spotlight, @MAHADI
@KidKromosone If you come up with a good paint scheme, do share it.
Thanks, @DarthAbhinav @Treadmill103 @mblastr
@MAHADI At 240 feet wouldn't it be a bigger Blackbird?
That was my reaction too, @KSPFSXandSP (I didn't base it off the Blackbird, it just ended up having a resemblance.)
Thanks, @Sparrow007 (Commander Sparrow?)
@WaffleCakes I was wondering if anyone would notice that... good pickup.

@FGW2014 Whenever you're ready - school should always be the main priority.
@TTHHSSSS Thanks, I like it a lot too. What do you mean by it flies backwards?
@Viperfox I understand where you're coming from, but I think it's a very boring place. Try to open your mind a little.
