Hi, never really met you, but I saw your forum post and it was really touching.
A lot has really happened; people like BogdanX and Minchiisan left, many new players have joined (my account is only 7 months old), and a bunch of prominent people got banned for unknown reasons.
Also, an L-2000 finally got to the site.
@TheTomatoLover true.
This reminds me, when I was still silver (about 2000 points), I made a simpleTurbo Lines livery and somehow got 50 upvotes within the first 4 days.
And this popularity wasn’t because of my skill or thumbnail (the thumbnail font is really bad), but because it’s from TFS. (My other liveries at the time had 15 upvotes maximum.)
It shows that, a lot of the time, the “trendiness” or weirdness of something matters equally, or even more, than the effort put into it.
(why am I typing so much every single time lol)
@NoblePlanes for the 777, the tail's still too swept-back.
Personally, out of all your aircraft, I like the Airbus widebodies the most, because the doors are in the correct positions and the overall shape is really accurate.
@NoblePlanes I did consider using your 737 for future livery projects, but the doors are too low and hence the entire aircraft looks out of proportion. The A340 looks fine though.
Okay, this level of detail is just phenomenal; everything from the cabin interior to the sensors on the fuselage has been made with extreme precision. It's just a shame the thumbnail isn't very well-made, otherwise this would have over 50 upvotes by now.
@ZeroWithSlashedO this comment's late, but ngl this is better than mine, since it has custom weapons and a variable nozzle. I still like my design though, nothing can replace the Dorito :)
In my opinion, you should try not to quit, as quitting midway can impact your self-esteem in the long run (I speak from experience.) Instead, you can try learning from tutorials, which can be found using quick internet searches, to improve your builds, and put more effort into them.
However, if you really want to leave, that’s your own personal decision and I can’t force it on you. Just don’t delete your account, it becomes really inconvenient if you choose to come back later.
@TheScrapyard I mean, from what I’ve observed, on the internet in general, quick, low-effort but “funny” stuff get viral much easily than actual good stuff, because gen z humour. (me fr)
On SP itself, a 50-part plane made with the most basic parts and covered in airbrakes has over 600 upvotes, for no particular reason. (Of course, I’m talking about the German Corsair.)
So yeah, that’s really just how it works. Gaining popularity is indeed about making things that are trendy, interesting and entertaining for a minute or two.
Although, for me personally, builds that I put effort into actually get a lot of attention. I don’t really know why, but I think it’s because I connected with those who share the same interests as me. (In my case, I build airliners and liveries, and I got to know a bunch of people who also like airliners, now they’ve become loyal supporters.)
It’s just my take on the situation, I really have no idea what your SP journey was like, so don’t take this too seriously.
@NorwegianHelsinki you can, but you can’t add things like weapons or AWACS radars. The only option left is a military transport plane, but it most likely won’t get a high score from me.
@Neruneten21 it is the military font, but I can’t find it in photoshop. The logo in my thumbnails is a screenshot of the logo in-game with the background removed
Score: 12/15
(Pro tip: if you don’t want the plane in the designer to block the thumbnail, you can use the “Move” function [the arrow button on the left side of the blueprint image menu] to move the image away.)
my bad
Also the doors are fixed now, great!

@CoachPickles86 I don’t think you should say that on his post, of all places
T
@TheTomatoLover happy 2023
Just what I need. Thanks!
@TheTomatoLover it's mine...
+1@AlivePan ty, I make fictional airliners now
@JP11 oh hey, you’re back!
@sharkpuppet808 he may have things to do in real life
Welcome back!

As I once said:
+2@CoachPickles86 you can submit 2 entries...
@CoachPickles86 nothing; I’ll still approve it
I start in the middle, because with my livery method the cheatline will be perfectly straight at the middle section of the fuselage
+1@sus232 here’s the context
(@Neruneten21 pin this thx)
@Zaineman can you make this plane PSM? It's not mine, but I just want to see how you'll do this.
@LoneSpaceGaming sure
@C5GALEXY thanks
Approved

@32 true, but some people don’t check their jet streams
Would be a real shame if that 2nd (middle) engine suddenly exploded and took the entire vertical stabiliser with it
@XAircraftManufacturer congrats on your first (truly) fictional plane!

THEY WHAT
Edit: Seems like my airliner’s much more popular than I expected…
+1That screenshot has such epic timing.
Also @C5GALEXY do you know where to find the Aeromexico 787 in it? I can’t find it when I search on google
Oh no, hope you get through this
+2We all get this at some point

@NorwegianHelsinki try using this website
Looks like a motorbike now, ngl
+1@Brololxd they did; it shows up as a successor now

96 upvotes on 96 part plane
@FedexGuy for the tail, use the fuselage cutting method too. But remember, the tail is a fuselage flipped onto its side, so everything is sideways.
@CoachPickles86 but no one else knows that, so you can’t blame him… oh well
@Applejuice2 ok it’s a successor now
