  • Someone, teach me the secerets of making good jet. 6.9 years ago

Anything can be made to fly perfectly Well, as people have already mentioned the key is balancing col and cog with the lift being behind the mass, normally by about 0.5blocks (ish) and located about 1/3rd of the way back from the leading edge of the wing. I use small wing panels to make it balance (more on the front brings col forward etc) and then nudge them into the fuselage so you can't see them. Centre of thrust can also lead to stability issues, try putting the actual jet engine either close to or in front of the cog (hide it in the fus) then reduce the power of the one in the back so it's just decorative. Have a look at the last 2 of my builds n take them apart for bits if u want.

@Irobert55 I'm confused, the single rockets can be used for aa if you really want, yes you have to be in ag mode but if ur close enough to use rockets you don't need to be in aa mode.

  • How can I improve my builds? 6.9 years ago

@Tang0five oh no, I hadn't thought of it that way... I was just going to build interstellar British aircraft on it ;) sr53 gets to the moon.

  • How can I improve my builds? 6.9 years ago

@WarHawk95 thanks for the comment I'm focusing on replicas at present anyway.

  • How can I improve my builds? 6.9 years ago

I've already made some tubes using the in-game individual rockets rather than a mod, have a look at some of my builds n Nick them from there

  • Wiggle Rotator 6.9 years ago

@CruzerBlade normally this happens if the mass is less than 1 or if there is a clash of parts where collisions havnt been disabled. If none of that works, it's over my head sorry.

  • Supermarine Type 300 (small-brown-dog)1.7 6.9 years ago

@rippedoffdog look ive got better things to do than type to you all night, ive said sorry for not asking first, i did point out to you in april that I was using your artwork to develop working aircraft on here to which you replied, and I quote "really appreciate that - thanks". Game over. I didnt set out to "rip off" anything, ive given credit where credit is due and referenced you and your work (no different to any assignment or uni work in creation), ive not financially or intellectually benefitted from doing this and your stropping about nothing. This isnt the place to do this so if you want to talk further just message me on DA (which I may quit soon anyway as i dont want to have any more "awesome designs" influencing my builds on here. Thanks. Sorry to anyone else that has to read this stuff.

  • Supermarine Type 300 (small-brown-dog)1.7 6.9 years ago

@rippedoffdog oh look, a credit for the design (not the build as you didnt contribute) and a link to your site, what more could you want??? Grow up.

  • No SPW this week. 6.9 years ago

Nnnnnooooo. But that means I have to read the forums myself and I just don't know how I'll survive all those "I'm leaving" or "teaser" posts. U sir are my forum firewall

  • How can I improve my builds? 6.9 years ago

@TheDepressedPig yeah I know that feeling. I don't build for upvotes per se, it's just a bit strange and I suppose frustrating when you put a lot of effort in to make something good with things like semirealistic trailing edges and then you get 20 votes and some dude builds a turkey and gets double that (I was going to say flying brick but someone just did that and I didn't want use that as a comparison ;) )

  • new build Gloster Javelin FAW 9 4.1 rs 6.9 years ago

@jamesPLANESii thanks for the spotlight and comments, it is fun to fly, if you hold the ground speed to about 70 you can trundle around with the nose held up :)

  • F101 Voodoo 3.2 COLOURING COMPETITION 6.9 years ago

@MoonKnight yeah not many participants, I even kept the part count down so tablet users could join in but meh, nvm. Thanks for playing. Feel free to play with any of my builds, my javelin and buccaneer are awesome (If I do say so myself)

  • Bristol Britannia 6.9 years ago

@SemedianIndustries havnt seen it, I've seen the Farnborough air show footage though

  • Why I did not want to post. (title and post edited) 6.9 years ago

@TheRedStormer hmm upvotes are an indicator of the quality of your builds... no upvotes = no one is much impressed and when people arnt impressed they won't comment either, try building some quality planes and see where you go from there.

Looks like a variable angle leading edge (probably a technical term for this) but would increase aerofoil shape and thus lift, presumably for low speed situations.

  • FINISHED JUDGING 6.9 years ago

@FuzzyAircraftProductions what about the buccaneers operated as private tourist chauferring passenger jets in South Africa? Still only 1 pilot and 1 passenger though. If that's acceptable then: https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/zc94pH/Blackburn-Buccaneer-S-2B-6-0 would be an entry.

  • Passenger jet challenge 1.1 6.9 years ago

@FuzzyAircraftProductions you said it had to have more than 80 parts so I erred on the safe side of 80 :)

  • Passenger jet challenge 1.1 6.9 years ago

@jamesPLANESii thanks, your fuzzy mate isn't replying to anyone who is asking questions on the comp though.

  • Passenger jet challenge 1.1 6.9 years ago

@jamesPLANESii in a passenger container in the bomb bay, it's even detachable in emergencies :) one of the attached photos showed it, but as imgur appears to given up working I have to explain..

  • Blackburn Buccaneer S.2B 6.0 6.9 years ago

@Moosehouse yes I can, but I don't know if I really want to, why not try it yourself?

  • YOYOYO PEEPS I NEED PEOPLE TO ENTER MY FRIEND'S CHALLENGE -jamesPLANESii 6.9 years ago

    @FuzzyAircraftProductions here's another, https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/l9TgRe/Passenger-jet-challenge-1-1

  • Passenger jet challenge 1.1 6.9 years ago

@ChiChiWerx yeah and if you drop it while turning etc or leave it too late for the chute they get high g throwing around, but i liked the concept and as i dont build passenger aircraft I thought a bit of a conversion would be a good idea.

  • Passenger jet challenge 1.1 6.9 years ago

@BaconRoll its an ex mil aircraft now in civilian attire, civs dont need to hide they need to be seen =) besides the game sort of chose the colour when i altered the palette =)

  • FINISHED JUDGING 6.9 years ago

@FuzzyAircraftProductions I was all up for it until the last line, passenger aircraft... does a 2 seat fighter count (the nav was a passenger afterall)?

  • Blackburn Buccaneer S.2B 6.0 6.9 years ago

@Vuki11 it's an all moving tail plane, it's only down when the elevator is applied.

  • F101 Voodoo 3.2 COLOURING COMPETITION 6.9 years ago

@MoonKnight @AvroPilot well as there was only two entries i would like to thank you for taking part and I've decided you may as well both be winners :)

  • Vickers Vindicator 6.9 years ago

@Alien artistic licence is to be encouraged :) . That bit about the harriers, I'm sure I read about that somewhere, wasn't that launched from a carrier with buccs for tankers or is my memory playing tricks again.

  • Vickers Vindicator 6.9 years ago

@Alien I don't know how I missed this, I thought it was real until the bit about intercepting fighters :)

  • Blackburn Buccaneer S.2B 6.0 6.9 years ago

@Alien thanks, I'm looking on the positive side, it has extra manoeuvrability if u turn right :) glad you liked it though.

  • (New Feature!) The SPW, with Awsomur [26] 6.9 years ago

@Maxwell1 I was just considering the same thing.... but I've already put the effort in so that leaves only one option :) hmmm death by xml?

  • Aircraft 21 1.5 6.9 years ago

@Tang0five yeah I'm pondering, a gnat would let me do a yellowjack, red arrow and the trainer scheme (I've got photos of all 3 flying st Waddington etc before the tragic accident). The fr46 the contra rotating version? I was looking at a no xvi or xiv clipped wing spitfire but I don't know.

  • Airbus A330-200 6.9 years ago

  • New builds 6.9 years ago

@SmokyMatchBox like thisky, build an an225 for realsies

  • Aircraft 21 1.5 6.9 years ago

@Tang0five I am pondering what's next, I fancy playing with a folland gnat, or mby going back to ww1 or 2, a sea fury or bearcat for instance. But I deffo to need a break first.

  • Aircraft 21 1.5 6.9 years ago

@BaconRoll yep, didn't even check or else would have added the last 3 :)

  • Aircraft 21 1.5 6.9 years ago

@Tang0five yeah I know what you mean There, I find the scale stuff takes a disproportionate amount of time and effort, so when I can I like to just bolt bits together.

  • Aircraft 21 1.5 6.9 years ago

@Tang0five thanks, not much to this one, i used the buccaneer legs, the thor engines and some other things i have saved as templates and bolted them together for a laugh =)
