Am I Seeing Things? Or is this Legit...

It seems to me that on some modern fighter jets, there appears to be a thin control surface on the LEADING EDGE of the wing?

See that? What is that? Some kind of slat?

Thanks for reading and I hope I can figure out what this is,

mabye its to get more lift out of the wings

Maybe that called "droop leading edge" (according to a drawing of the Concorde on Google). Here it is

@Chancey21 Well, maybe this is some new kind of slat? Something to aid with the transition from vtol to regular flight or something. Perhaps its for low speed roll control, like a spoiler.

Slats (in my mind) look like these

@F104Deathtrap slats have gaps between the main wing and themselves, they increase airfoil efficiency at low speeds and high angles of attack yes I know, but I doesn’t look like a slat at all

Looks like a variable angle leading edge (probably a technical term for this) but would increase aerofoil shape and thus lift, presumably for low speed situations.

Those are called slats. Pretty basic control method for the last 60 years or so. You should read up on this stuff, its interesting and it'll help you make more realistic planes.
