@JED
Well, since I do online school I can hop on SP whenever I want, like if I want to take a quick break or so. I don't really have a set time. I'm on Pacific Standard Time and I guess 5 PM - 8 PM would be good for me to hop on SP for a good 2-3 hours to work on our build.
@JED
Strike fighters are are the swiss army knife of fighter jets and can do both air-to-air and air-to-ground roles with good performance (like the F-16 or F-18). An air superiority fighter is more tuned towards air-to-air combat, like it will have better maneuverability and it would be faster.
@JED
That's fine if you don't have discord, but I'm more in the mood to make a multi-role strike fighter, and your F-36 design looks like it could fit the bill. However, the only problem I noticed, is that this is for a 6th gen fighter challenge and the F-36 looks like a 5th gen fighter. Idk, we'll see what we can come up with.
@JED
So before we get building on an official design, lets come up with some concepts first whether a crude/rough design on SP or a sketch (I'd prefer sketch).
@JED
Because the RAF back in WW2 actually painted there recon Spitfires pink for stealth/camouflage reasons. I never knew this before looking it up at the time of making the NA-3R, but the RAF only flew their recon Spitfires at dusk, especially when there were clouds present, and the sky would turn sort of pink-ish, which makes the pink aircraft blend right in with the sky & clouds. It's literally stealth camouflage and it was very effective, so I applied it the the NA-3R.
@JED
Thanks, this plane is very close to me because of how long I spent working on it and how detailed it is. It's my best airplane by far from my old companies RP.
@BaconEggs
In other words it's a UCAV that uses missile guidance instead of being controlled by a player, and it's got a laser on it. You basically pick a target, fire the QF-85, which acts like a missile, and right before it hits the target, you manually fire the laser to destroy the target so the drone can be used again for another target.
@ballisticbullets
Since my Firebird Stratos is too big for my comfort to fly around my rural neighborhood surrounded by tall pine trees, I bought the Champ so I could fly it at my house/neighborhood since the Firebird Stratos requires a large field. I was actually considering the Duet since it was much cheaper, but I went for the Champ instead because it's got better parts support and it's easier to make repairs. You can't really replace the engines on the duet, so if one of them dies, your kind of screwed. I also got the Champ because it's yellow and easy to spot in the sky.
@EliteArsenals24
The challenge wasn't a total waste for me, as it motivated me to complete my radical UCAV concept instead of cancelling the project altogether. I'm about to release a major teaser of the new system.
@EliteArsenals24
Ok I've decided to opt-out of the challenge. The weapon system I'm creating will be freaking insane and truly unique once fully finished and any bugs are fully fleshed out. I'd rather finish it as a top-quality complete build than to rush it just to make a challenge deadline. So yea, I'm out of the challenge I guess.
@ForeverPie
If you have a hobby knife, you can make a pretty good incision to cut open the cowl and have access to the engine. The engine mounting on my champ got nudged out of place during a pretty bad impact (although still solidly in place) and I used a hobby knife to cut out the top cowl to inspect the engine. Then I simply put the top cut piece of the cowl and tape it back on. Although you have to be careful to make sure you don't damage or accidentally cut any critical components, electronics, or moving parts.
Well, I have a Hobbyzone Champ and smacked the sucker into a light post which chopped the right wing clean off at the root. A little tape and she's flying again. The tail also got partially crushed one time but I patched it up with some tape and it flies just fine, although the tail leans off-center, making it less precise in turning.
A plane like the Duet or my Champ is light enough where you can use tape to fix it and the tape can hold together the aircraft in flight.
I agree, beginners should definitely get a light airplane that's light enough where damage is minimal in crashes and fixes are easy and inexpensive.
Or you could go my route where I did my first RC flying with the large & heavy Firebird Stratos where it's construction & durability makes it freaking indestructible. Seriously, I kamikazed that bad boy in the ground once and it's still flying (couldn't recover from a loop), just a few wrinkles from the impact in the fuselage and the nose is a bit off... but yep it still flies just fine.
@randomusername
Cause it makes them look more uniform. They each have more detailed paint jobs on there own separate releases, like the QF-65 Redback has it's own Redback-Spider paint job. It's a minor "photo shoot" of a collection of my drones I made over the past. The first drone I made was the Black Shuck (the one with the tons of missiles on the wing pylons). My latest design is the small one part of Project Skeeter. It kinda shows how my UCAV drone designs progressed over the months, as well as my build style.
Well that really sucks. Hope it doesn't impact the program too much. The F-35B also recently just conducted it's first operational mission/airstrike in Afghanistan against Taliban targets.

Sorry for the comment spams but here's also an invite to my Rainier Aerospace discord server (if you have Discord).
@JED
Also, I really love the F-36 you have here. I think we should use it as a base. I'll elaborate more on it later with some drawings.
@JED
Ok, after I'm done with my school work today I'll draw up some ideas.
@JED
Do you want to build a high-end air superiority fighter or a multi-role strike fighter?
@JED
So before we get building on an official design, lets come up with some concepts first whether a crude/rough design on SP or a sketch (I'd prefer sketch).
@JED
Sure, that would be great!

What nose-heaviness? For one of your fighters or the QF-65?
@BaconEggs

It's literally a re-usable missile...
@BaconEggs
A flying laser that you can't fly...
@EliteArsenals24
Thanks!
@JED
Thank you!
Wow, that really sucks dude.

Awesome, probably your best design yet!

FINALLY someone is doing a proper 172 replica. Looks great man!
+1Long live the Queen of the Skies!

@Jetpackturtle
Wow, what freaking jerks.
@CRJ900Pilot
That's awesome dude, I love Maules.
How bad is the damage on your Duet? Is it beyond repair?
Oh yea, my Firebird Stratos has also been attacked by small birds because if looks like a freaking hawk or eagle when it flies...

Either way I'm nearing completion with my system, when I submit mine can you please still accept it?
I don't have much left to do on it.
@EliteArsenals24
Wait I think we're on different times.... It's still Oct. 30 on my end.
@EliteArsenals24
WAIT TODAY??? It says October 1.
Hey just a heads up my weapon system I'm working on will be done on Monday, right on the deadline.
@ThePrototype
Your close...
This thing is absolutely freaking terrifying...
An unmanned UCAV that can fly forever, armed with a powerful destructive laser that can wipe out a fleet in no time flat....
Just... incredibly...
+3By far the BEST and most workable flying aircraft carrier in SP! Well done dude!
+2@FastDan

Kudos to Boeing for winning the T-X contract, that means the St. Louis plant will remain plenty busy for the next decades to come.
Jundroo & SCS Software are the best game/software developing companies I've ever seen and I'm happy to support them.

+1Ok. The new drone should be done by the end of this weekend.

This is awesome! You should do more Sonex-inspired aircraft!
+1I really love the FEP-1's design, it looks so futuristic, sleek, and efficient, and you did a great job on this one!
But the real question is, why isn't it a spork?
+2Wow your almost platinum!
Tom & Jerry. When cartoons were actually funny...
