I've been using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro ever since I got into flight simming (and use it often for SP). Despite now I have a CH Flight Yoke & CH Rudder Pedals set, I still use my joystick every now and then (mostly when I fly stick aircraft in FSX, and mostly use it for SP). It's very great and reliable for the price you pay. You can usually find it for $30 USD on Amazon or at Best Buy (might vary depending on where you live). I think the one I currently have is my 3rd purchase of it. It's very simple and easy to use as well.
Wow I just found out about this. I use to watch some of his awesome RC flying videos but kinda forgot his channel until you brought it up again. That's sad, RIP Samm.
@JED
You don't have to give me the F-36B you were working on, the F-36A will do just fine as it's already complete and it's the right scale/size. If you still want, I can also submit it into the 6th gen competition.
@JED
Ah that sucks man, but no problem! You don't have to cancel the project, but if you still are, can Rainier take it over? I really like the F-36A, and I want to upgrade it with a full cockpit, functioning weapons bay, and overall better detail. Basically I want to further develop the design. It will still retain the original designation & name and I'll of course credit you.
@JED
By basic airframe, I mean literally make the basic airplane (fuselage, wings, tail, etc.). When you make the wings, don't add any panels to them. Just leave the wings as bare-stock SP wings. I think I'll be able to make more realistic looking wings.
So mainly do the fuselage and basic wings & tail fins.
@JED
Detailed flight controls are basically using rotators and & fuselage pieces to make a wing more realistic. Look at Hyperloop's fighters for an example.
Feb. 1st? Oh jeez that's plenty of time for me. I have a really unique VTOL plane concept I'd like to do eventually, and it would go great for this challenge. (although it uses turbofans, but I guess I could use turboprops instead.)
@JED
Also, I already got the cockpit covered. The cockpit is going to be very simple, and will take inspiration from one of my recent projects, where I developed a new cockpit I like to call "SLIM" (Secure Link Interface Module). It's an advanced ground-based cockpit designed to fly the QF-65 unmanned fighter using augmented reality (in concept, not really possible in SP) and cameras on the QF-65 airframe. The F-36 won't feature the exact features of the SLIM cockpit, but the design & style of the SLIM cockpit (comfort, simple, but lots of information being displayed) will be implemented on the F-36B. Don't worry about making room for the SLIM cockpit, just do the airframe and I'll do that once your finished with your part.
@JED
I'd actually prefer if you complete the basic airframe first, while I add the details afterwords, like the cockpit, landing gear, detailed wing flight controls, weapons bay, etc.. (Hope your fine with that)
@JED
Yea I'd greatly preferred if you scaled it down to the size of your current Thorny devil, before I start on it. The lines and shaping is very smooth, and looks very sharp, but it just needs to be a little smaller.
The ekranoplan-style ground-effect vehicles always fascinates me, especially when I first saw it in FSX. I heard Russia is trying to revive the design for arctic-expeditions.
@JED
Ok, sounds good. You can make the base airframe and I'll add more detail to it. I don't plan on making my Viper concept, I have a cooler concept in mind I would like to do (if I find time to build it). It's sort of along the lines of a single-engine YF-23, and looks kinda like a manned version of my QF-65, except the intake is at the bottom.
@JED
I know I'm talking a lot (lol) but I also want to add a really crazy camouflage pattern onto it, inspired off the real Thorny Devil's color/camo pattern
@JED
So I think we already have our basic airframe. We don't really need to build anything from scratch, just tweak the design a bit. I think we should add a fully modeled cockpit, a more detailed wing with deflecting flight controls (which I can add), more detailed landing gear, a functioning weapons bay, and I think it's gonna need a better engine with more thrust, which I can model as well.
@JED
So comparing the F-36 to my QF-65, I'd say the F-36 is pretty much the right size (scale wise). I think all we need to do is literally add more detail to it. The flight dynamics & maneuverability are top-notch.
I also want to add a fully modeled cockpit into it as well, although not too complex.
@JED
Yep I remember the White Ghost. It also kinda looks like your ATA as well. I really love the YF-23, it's one gorgeous fighter, and it's the inspiration for the V-tail on the viper concept.
@JED
Also, I do have a computer, so I can do more with xml modding and details. I have a neat 5th gen fighter design I drew up way back, but it's got a few neat design features I'd like to show you.
@JED
We don't have to build or chat at the same exact times. Just build, draw/design or send a message whenever you want to.
Yep, indeed I am a Christian, in fact I recently just got baptized. That's cool your one with Christ as well (no one else except us is talking on this page/build so it think it's fine if we mention religion).
Wonderful build & jet! I love the detail you put into both the jet & and the description. Although Boeing/Saab recently just won the T-X contract for the USAF.
@JED
I was thinking we should chance the designation from -36 because it's already taken by the Boeing X-36, and I was thinking of F-55, but that designation was used by both the Lockheed Martin X-55 and the Curtiss XP-55 so I think F-36 will do just fine.
@JED
Sure, let's use the F-36 as a benchmark for our design. I'll try to get done with my school work by 5 PM (PST) so I can draw my idea since I didn't get the chance to last night, and you can draw yours as well. I kind of want to draw out the fighter first, and then see what components we are each going to make.
If this is for Tessemi's 6th gen fighter challenge I'm screwed... O_O
This looks very badass!

Looks like ya'll had a fun time XD

Seriously, have you not seen it? I shattered the mains and prop trying to land in that cramped space. XD
Hey there's me after I buttered my vertigo too hard...
+1@JED
Ok thanks JED! I'll tag you before I release it. Yea when your ready when can attempt another collab in the future.

Sounds about right XD
Dllama4 lol comment of the year XD
Wish I had time to join. I was going to join you guys but when I finally got to firing up SP the fly in was already over.
That title is golden 👌
+2Congrats!
Congrats man! You deserve the spotlight, your Draco is very well done.
@JED

@JED
It's got nothing to do with the actual flight dynamics. It's purely "eye candy" but it makes the plane look so much more realistic.
@JED
Detailed flight controls are basically using rotators and & fuselage pieces to make a wing more realistic. Look at Hyperloop's fighters for an example.
@JED
Really??? How? I hear iOS doesn't allow mods.
Feb. 1st? Oh jeez that's plenty of time for me. I have a really unique VTOL plane concept I'd like to do eventually, and it would go great for this challenge. (although it uses turbofans, but I guess I could use turboprops instead.)
+1@JED
And yes I will make a mod-free version since your on iOS. (since SLIM uses Gestour's instrumentation mod.)
@JED

Also the camouflage is going to be one of the last things I do on the plane.
@JED

Awesome plane dude, looks badass and unique.
I smell an FA-2 Fand II around here...

@JED
So I think we already have our basic airframe. We don't really need to build anything from scratch, just tweak the design a bit. @JED
I was thinking of incorporating some design aspects of my old viper concept into the F-36.
For the 6th gen challenge, I guess we're basically making a more souped-up and more detailed F-36.
Here is a very old 5th gen fighter concept I made awhile ago (from when I was in a driving school class lol) dubbed the Viper concept.
@JED
Also, I do have a computer, so I can do more with xml modding and details. I have a neat 5th gen fighter design I drew up way back, but it's got a few neat design features I'd like to show you.

@JED
Oh ok I thought Thorny Devil was a made up name, but since it's an actual animal that's totally cool.
The TSR-2 is one the coolest strike aircraft I've ever seen. Too bad it never made it to production.
+1Congrats on getting featured!
+1Wonderful build & jet! I love the detail you put into both the jet & and the description. Although Boeing/Saab recently just won the T-X contract for the USAF.
@JED
I'd also prefer F-36A Thorn over Thorny Devil, but the choice is yours.
@JED
I was thinking we should chance the designation from -36 because it's already taken by the Boeing X-36, and I was thinking of F-55, but that designation was used by both the Lockheed Martin X-55 and the Curtiss XP-55 so I think F-36 will do just fine.
