Designed and developed basing on the chassis of KV-1S, the first prototype of S-51's developement started in January, 1944. A 203mm B-4 artillery was installed on the hull. The tank successfully passed the test from March, 1944 to April, 1944. Despite its success, the tank never entered mass production.
