Backstory:
As the latest member of De Havilland's V Fighters, the De Havilland Viper has large shoes to fill as the Royal Navy's premier fighter. Trying not to break tradition, De Havilland tried to make their stealth fighter stick with the twin boom design.
Developed with the help of Lockheed Martin, who specialized in making stealth aircraft, the Viper provided the UK with a fighter they can mass produce in-house.
Testing and Development went without incident and in 2017, the Viper was put into service with the Royal Navy.
Later it was discovered that the tailplane behind the engine would provide an effect akin to thrust vectoring as some of the engine's thrust would be redirected by the rear tailplane between the booms, which was rebuilt into an all titanium structure, which made it heat-resistant, but quite expensive to replace.
The Viper was mainly used for air patrols, but pilots soon found out that the twin 20mm cannons were also useful for strafing ground targets. De Havilland would plan to improve on the Viper's ground attack capability with the Viper MK.2
