Antonov An-2 Biplane challenge

29.6k GhostHTX  11 months ago
Auto Credit Based on Othawne's Game Key / Bi-Plane Challenge! (CLOSED)

Komrades! Today is good day. Komrade Stalin is in a good mood because Komrade Oleg has designed nice cargo biplane which can fly in backwards direction. It is ok - he is Ukrainian. We send him to gulag with only medium quality borscht.

Amerikanski kapitalists cannot fly in such a manner. They spend many rubles on something called “helicopter”. This will not catch on. And backward flying biplane will accelerate the coming of the glorious workers revolution.

Aaaaanyway... here is my Antonov An-2 replica. I took a wee bit of artistic freedom to keep the part count reasonable. There are some innacuraces. The KGB are currently tracking me to... amend these innacuraces. Probably from somewhere in Siberia.

She will take off in less time than it takes to say “babushka” and will land and come to a stop quicker than you can down a litre of kvass. Top speed is barely in triple figures.

Uncle Joe would be proud, if he wasnt such a genocidal schizoid maniac.

Vtol down drops the flaps, flaperons and slats - which are all present and correct and fully operational.

Trim sets pitch attitude
Throttle, well - it throttles.
Ag1 for nav lights
Ag2 for landing lights
Ag3 for cargo door

Spasibo, komrades!
And a special SPASIBO to konrade getorge, for the Russian lessons!

Oh cool, I never knew that!
And also, about the balancing issue, I’m right about that, look at any STOL Plane on the site that flies well to see that the com is just a hair in front of the col @GhostHTX

    "Airframe Construction:
Wings are of an unequal span single bay biplane design, all metal construction, with fabric covering.
Fuselage is of all-metal stressed skin semi-monocoque construction. Tail is a braced all metal structure with fabric covering. Wing area is 770 square feet total.
Note: wings have full length leading edge slats and ailerons droop with flap actuation to provide great STOL performance."

I'm pretty sure these guys don't agree with you. Next.

@Chancey21 Again - not for me she doesn't. There is a miniscule auto roll to the left, but nothing that makes her anywhere near un-flyable. As for the COM - she will land and stop within her own length and take off again in not much longer and she holds level flight with very little nose up trim - sorry - I don't see where you're coming from here, mate.

And I’m pretty sure the AN-2 doesn’t have flaperons @GhostHTX

The CoM should be barely in front of the CoM for any STOL Plane, and the drag on the elevators causes autoroll @GhostHTX

@Chancey21 Em - no it doesn't. Not on my iPhone on high settings, at least. What device are you using?

It looks good, but frankly, it barely flies. Terrible auto roll and stall... not the greatest...

Spasiba. Engine is based on capitalisti Wright Cyclone. But this model built in factory in Kiev, by superior quality babushkas. Runs on vodka. Like superior quality babushkas. Wings made from inferior Uzbeki alloy, like superior quality babushkas, but is overall acceptable. @CustomAircraftMods
