A question about new helicopter features, and a meme

414k realSavageMan  5.1 years ago

So after the update, I tested out the official "Gator 2" and found out that the helicopter is able to balance itself pretty well without the help of a gyroscope.

Does that mean the new rotor itself can create a gyroscopic force, just like real rotors do? So that in-game gyroscopes will no longer be needed?

How is the actual helicopter control supposed to feel like?

Meme of the day

I'm glad to see my Chinook grabbed our developers' attention lol

Fair point, no ones made a UH-1Y Venom yet and I’d assume judging by your impeccable designs, the Venom wouldn’t be a challenge for you, I’m currently working on retrofitting a Huey I downloaded a while back but I keep having tail rotor issues and it doesn’t want to equalise so I keep spinning @QingyuZhou

Your chinook in the video didn’t have a gyro. Used it as a test For tandems. link

The heli rotors can creat gyroscopic force by tilting its rotors.
The helicopter control feels like a helicopter.
I hope this answered both of your questions.

Just add a gyro. I mean it’s not that bad. You still need Gyro even with the Heli Rotors after all @QingyuZhou

Hi friends! I tried to apply the new rotor parts to my previous helicopter, but it has a strong tendency of tilting and I can't fix it, unless i add a gyro. How should I deal with this problem?
Also tandem rotors don't work so well either. My CH-47 always rotates automatically.

I am using the Helicopter Rotors, that’s why. They already kinda act like a Gyro.

@WNP78 It’s there for auto hovering while using the winch. Its only on with activation 3.

@QingyuZhou , would it be possible for you to help me with the nose/cockpit section of my next aircraft. It's in the works at the moment but i always seem to get stuck on this crucial part?

My Osprey still needs a Gyro though .—. So I hope it will never be removed

@QingyuZhou no, gyros are not needed. I'm not really sure why they put one on the gator.

Helicopters are not supposed to do "self-righting", right? Does that mean a gyro is no longer needed? @WNP78

yes, it does produce gyro stabilisation but not really self-righting. The Gator does self-right, because it has a gyro on it. You can check some of the XML options, for the gyro settings.

@randomusername @randomusername I usually take a gyro mounted on a hinge rotator whose intit is trim. By making that I can give the helicopter an inclination to make it move forward all the time.

While the helicopter tilts forward, it also generates a force pushing it forward, but not as great as the upward force. @asteroidbook345
