I think your questions were answered below, but here's a few more tips:
You can begin upvoting once you have 30 points. Upvoting doesn't take away how many points you have.
Everyone on here is friendly! If you need any help with anything, ask anyone.
Keep practicing your building style. Eventually you'll find away you like to build!
Take inspiration from others! Download a plane you like and take it apart to see how it was made.

Make sure you read the rules.

I recommend using fueselage blocks and getting the fine tuner and overload mod. Tear cool creations apart and see how they're built. Build yourself too, humans learn from experience.

Get mods here.
They only work on Windows and Android.
When you find a mod you like make sure it's available on your platform, by looking at the different download buttons (a Windows only mod will only have a Windows download button, vice versa).

There are many mod tutorials on the forum so i'll simplify this:
1. Find the . spmod or . spmod-android file
2. Move it to Android > data > com.jundroo.SimplePlanes
3. Start SimplePlanes, go to mods and activate it.
I'm not sure how to do it on PC since i'm an Android user.

1. With wings, make "fuselage wings" to start out (check some of my aircraft, like the BF-109 and the Gloster Meteor to see what they are)
2. Unless you're on IOS (which doesn't support modding), go to the "Mods" page, click on one, click "Download", and then "Open". It will bring you to the SP Mods menu, and make sure the one you just downloaded is marked "enabled"
3. Most people in the community are very nice. I would say the SP community is very supportive of new users.
4. On an aircraft page, scroll down to below the comments section, and click the orange "Upvote" button
5. Go read the rules (under the "Stuff" tab)
