Brake Propulsion System

37.1k EliteArsenals24  6.1 years ago

So I was experimenting with airbrakes yesterday and I found something quite strange.
I discovered that airbrakes can be converted to some kind of propulsion (that is honestly quite effective) when the "max" value was set to negative.
Well I think it is self-explanatory.
Since we know how airbrakes work and by setting some values to negative it just set it to the opposite function.

Well here's a test clip...
.

If you may notice, the race is "Eagle Pass" which prohibits the use of propulsions (such as engines and propellers). Plus it completely depletes fuel right from the start. But as you can see the plane accelerated like it was having an engine.

Don't know if someone else has discovered this before me so kindly notify me if this is not new.

Well I actually developed an engine with this kind of propulsion.
.

If you want to know more go to my latest build

@WNP78 Thanks for notifying me haha. Like I said I am not sure if someone else has discovered this before me. I actually joined the SP community a bit late so I have not seen some builds from a long time ago. Good thing you're here to remind us of the past lol.

It was used as a propulsion system, over 2 years ago. I didn't discover it like @EternalDarkness said, but its kinda sad I remember stuff that far back xD

@Megaplanesinc Yes I thought so too.

As chancey said. It has been done but this is more stable than the one i saw

@F104Deathtrap check out my latest build. I kinda put some warnings in using it haha. Link is at the bottom of description.

It crashes the game if you touch water, it also crashes the game if you aren't careful about limiting your maximum speed somehow.

@Chancey21 True. But I haven't seen someone implement it as an engine.

I’ve also found that out while building my E-fan almost a year ago, but it never worked in my favour and would do some glitchy things during level flight. I ended up abandoning it. @EternalDarkness

@EternalDarkness Well we can use it as propulsion now haha.

WNP discovered that ages ago. I have used it on a few builds to reduce apparent drag, but never as propulsion.
