We need a cannon (Uservoice suggestion)

Uservoice post

After experimenting with gun systems on my ships, and not being satisfied with results, I have decided to post a suggestion to the developers to add it as a stock part.

Systems I have tried and their shortcomings

  • Wing gun with second gun for recoil: no muzzle flash, unreliable;
  • CF gun: no recoil, range limited to around one mile, needs slow motion to register a hit;
  • Boom25 gun: no nozzle flash, high part count (two parts per shot);
  • Boom25 gun with nozzle flash: ureliable, huge part count (3-4 parts per shot).

Suggestion for the gun

  • Design:
    The gun should be simple, like all parts on SimplePlanes. It should have a clean barrel, so that it doesn't interfere with custom details.

  • Function:
    The gun should fire slugs at ballistic trajectory (spawns at the tip of the barrel, with V = 800m/s). There should be a simple muzzle flash, and animation of barrel moving a bit backwards (recoil).

    This is a very good proposal, and this is what I always hoped. If the artillery is added to the "weapon", then the tank and the battleship will have good performance.

    Why don't they add bullet types, and gauges for the guns @EternalDarkness @BogdanX I'm thinking that it should be implemented to have Incendiary, or AP, Tracers, ETC, that'd be something interesting, like setting up the ammo, to be, AP, IT. Then we could have realistic battles, but, just my opinion.

    I can make a cannon that has a belt system, has recoil and does damage, I can't figure out a name for the type, but it's a bit complicated, and one wrong placement of it could mess it up....

    Actually I managed to make a Recoil system for CF gun but my gun doesn't do any damage

    @doge they need a lock-on or limit ammo to three shots (I need my activation groups). Also, they leave a smoke trail and have no muzzle flash, recoil, or a gun sound.

    @Botfinder we probably won't get anything fancy there. Devs are focusing on SR2, which is supposed to bring money, and thus keep Jundroo alive. Then they'll have to fix bugs on SR2. So, a simple gun is the best we can hope for.

    @ShatSlanger I'm trying to make the concept so that devs can make it "on a lunch break". Of course, it's still not really that simple, but still... Whichever is easier to make works for me.

    I would enjoy drop for the already existing guns, especially to make dogfights a little more realistic
