Very, Very Depressing News.

Some of you already know this regarding hurricane Irma and the prestigious island we all know and love, St. Maarten. I feel like everyone else should know that 95% of the island was destroyed by Irma's 180+mph winds, equivelant to that of an EF-4 tornado. The destruction includes Maho Beach and Princess Juliana International Airport. The beach and airport are literally nonexistent. The terminal was destroyed by debris and then flooded, while airplanes we're thrown around everywhere and the runway was covered in sand. The fence was damaged by a car, which can be seen in the last moments of PTZ TVs Maho Beach cam before it went dead. The entire aviation community is experiencing the rippling effects of the destruction, knowing that many peoples favorite travel destination will no longer be the same. I am 99% positive they will find a way to rebuild the airport and get airline flights back in, but the future is uncertain, and for now we have to wait. If you want to see a tidbit of what is used to be like I have a YouTube video of me at the beach on my YouTube channel, which can be accessed through my profile bio.

@Thejets It was amazing how they managed to rebuild and clean up the entire airport in mere months! I'm going there next year (last time I went was in 2016), so it will be interesting to see what's different!

It survived! I just went there a few days ago. The planes are rushing in like always. Low behold, it’s not gone. Besides, there was no way St Martin would let princess juliana intl die because of a hurricane.

@jamesPLANESii ironically we go there at the same time... that should be a thing, we schedule the time we go to TNCM and the terminal
A little far fetched but some people could do it if they want to

Just remember when it was undamaged, and how it was a gateway for people to visit a great vacation spot.
