How a possible updated Rank System could look

Intro

Post that made me write this

I have awoken from my peaceful slumber to see this:

https://www.simpleplanes.com/Forums/View/1252211/A-level-above-platinum

I went, "Yea, this seems cool. I wonder what people said about this." So, I scrolled down and saw this:

The dreaded Diamond rank.

First off, while diamonds can be many colors such as yellow and blue, pure diamonds with no flaws or impurities are clear and transparent.

What you think a diamond rank would look like:

What a diamond rank would look like:

Second, why diverge into gemstones when we already have this wonderful metal naming and coloration scheme?

Seeing how I am obviously the fourth smartest person here and the 20th least artistic person on the site, I have taken on the responsibility of showing you a possible remake of the current rank system.

SP Explained: Updated Rank System

Reducing the Platinum population at any cost

Long ago, Platinum was a rank achieved by few. At 15 points an upvote, users needed 1,667 upvotes to make platinum. It was a sought after valuable only accessible by hard work and dedication. However, as the community grew and "matured," Platinum users became more and more common, popping up as if they were wildflowers after a rainy spring storm.

As of this post, the SP community has 255 Platinum users. 77 of those users have more than 50,000 points. Out of those 77, only 25 have more than 100,000 points, and only 3 of those have more than 250,000 points.

This increase of Platinum users has lead to an inflation that decreases the worth of the rank. As their numbers grow, the gravity held by achieving this rank becomes less and less. In other words, the sense of accomplishment becomes weaker.

There are many ways to fix this:

-Raise the amount required from 25,000 to 50,000
-Decrease the amount of upvotes each post gives you
-Partial Extermination of the current Platinum users
-Revolution
-Downvote button

A more community friendly solution would be a reworking of the current point system.

The System

Lets take a look at the current system:

-White 0-99
-Bronze 100-999
-Silver 1000-4999
-Gold 5000-24999
-Platinum 25000+

As with all good things, the current rank system must end. The system worked well over the years, but as the community matured and grew, it has become outdated and unable to provide what the community needs.

One major problem right now is the lack of goal or reason to go on for platinum users. Sure they can try to become the highest ranking member on the site, but it's extremely difficult and time consuming for both sides. So, to fix this problem and many others, I have developed a new rank system:

When looking at the current ranking system, every rank is named after a metal; Platinum, Silver, Gold, and Bronze. This new rank system follows this, adding new metals such as copper and rose gold.

Rarity is also considered. Copper is more common than silver. Silver is more common than gold. Gold is more common than platinum and platinum is more common than Osmium. Osmium is the least abundant element in the Earth crust, making it rarer than gold and platinum. Alloys such as bronze and rose gold are considered less rare/valuable than their counterparts copper and gold. Bronze is an alloy of copper and tin and rose gold is an alloy of gold and other metals.

Finally, each of these metals, except for bronze and copper, have very distinctive and different colors. Rose gold is pinkish red, gold is gold, Osmium is steelish blue, etc. These colors do not interfere with the mod and dev ranks and are easy to distinguished from one another.

Future Updates and Possibilities

I hope to add things beyond Osmium. A possibility could be gemstones. Since going beyond 100,000 points is an amazing feat, I believe it would be fitting to break away from the conventional metal naming system and go with precious gems. As of now, this is my possible list of ranks above 100,000:

-Jade/Emerald: 250,000 (Green)
-Topaz: 500,000 (Orange)
-Amethyst: 750,000 (Purple
-Sapphire: 1,000,000 (Dark Blue)

Lastly, I am hoping to add a rank in between gold and platinum. If you have any suggestions, feel free to comment. Have a great day or night, the choice is yours.

Replacing Copper with a more distinct rank plate is also on the list.

Because drinking a food is like fooding a drink. You food and drink so food to the power of drink equals food squared. @QuitePossiblyMangled

And ngl I disagree with this post. We don't need to destroy the rank system. Make "Diamond" or "rose" everyone above 100K. Thats all

U-238 isn't even the best isotope of uranium. SMH

    U-235

But seriously, if you guys devoted half the energy towards learning how to make things, instead of arguing about upvotes, we'd all be platinum many times over.

This is actually well thought of! But yeah, I agree with @Numbers statement. And having new ranks in the lower level would also make it more cool since you'd be achieving more for less upvotes. Really cool.

This is incredibly dumb. Just keep the current tanks and add another one on. And please keep in mind the site's astetic, these ranks don't work with the site's color palette.
