In fact, I’d go as far as to say, it’s how you should build a sea plane. Let me show you what I mean.
Why is the main gear located SO FAR behind the CoM and CoL? The thing literally takes off at 126 mph, even though it has a stall speed of around 60!
This plane really isn’t teaching new players how to locate their landing gear...
Anyway, if you’re a new player and your plane struggles to take off, this is probably your reason why.
Speaking of which, when this thing stalls, it violently pitches up and enters a deep stall. Not ideal at all.

So, you may be thinking, “It sucks on land because it’s meant to be a sea plane, James.
Yeah, well, it’s even worse in the water.
First of all, an aesthetic thing. Look at the shape of these floats. What kind of floats look like that???
When we get into the water, look at how low we sit! The dorsal fin is literally in the water.
Water handling is literally non-existent
Turn rightttttt!!!
And, even though it’s a sea plane, It literally can not take off from the sea!
I mean, Jesus Christ. It had one job. And it failed at it. 🤦
Alright, so you’re probably defending this plane saying it’s just meant to be a basic plane that new players can muck about with early in The game, but really these default aircraft are more than that. These are the first builds new players encounter, and are often the builds that are basic enough that new players can look around them and see how they’re made so they can replicate them in their own planes. This is what I did when I first started.
Basically the sea plane is teaching people how to build planes wrong. This not good. Something needs to be done about this.
The Sea Plane desperately needs an update.
Btw, I’ll happily volunteer to make a new default plane sea plane :)
At least we got 1.11 which made it A LOT better

@Kobih what physics settings are you using? On high it isn't possible unless the horses encased in the engine are increased by about 5%

With enough time and effort and bouncing, it can actually take off from water but it still could be better

if you don’t like it then just quit... the sea plane is the pinnacle in modern design, it reflects decades of research and development, a synergy of smooth flight and graceful landings on the water and on land. none of your builds would rival this plane.
